Parts for IHP National Cadet

Would anyone know of a source from where I can procure some parts for the IHP National Cadet (CO2) air-rifle? I need to restore an old air-rifle and any details would be much appreciated.

If he cant produce them then yu have to find a GOOD MACHINIST who can make the parts for you. I am the chap who bought steyrshots tau7 the " dummy" . I had tried all over the world for the main seal but found no source for it so then I machined the main seal at home and it is now working fine. The bulk fill cylinder was not there so I have changed it to fill from an IHP cylinder and sourced two new cylinders from Mr Mehta . If he doesnt understand you have him hand over the phone to his techy some Goerge Mathew.
BTW I wonder who had fixed the tau before this

Hey abhijeet

about 4 years ago I had bought a diana 35

some idiot had made a .22 out of it so I reconned it which took a lot of affort

Had to remove the barrel and cut off the bored end at the breach

then recrown and choke the barrel

find a but in the market and find out that it wont fit

next I got some bluing tanks made and learned how to do bluing and parkerisation

It works and is accurate but I just dont like the length of this weapon I like the 25 and 23 that I have in original condition so to make a long story short I am exchanging it for an IHP co2 rifle and will recon that so will duplicate all the parts that I make and post them to you if needed No sweat this is the kind of thing I do to prevent myself from growing old

reconned it took photos
If the one yu have has not been repaired before this you will not need any parts this is a tough gun
will post the photos an details when I get my next break from surgery

Also have taken the measurements for the only part you may need if it has been fixed
easier than fixing the tau7

iff you have all the parts you should not need any new ones as these have not been fiddled with

In case you cant source anything just tell me and I will do my best only problem with me is that the turnaround time is tricky as this is only a hobby , im a full time surgeon operating 5 dlinics so it can get dicey

The rifle is fun to shoot and quite smooth dont know the fps and am waiting for the chrono to arrive
maybe reducing the size of the ball will soup it up but then thats going to be the next project

update on the cadet

I tried tuning the cadet

Chrono as first fixed 288 fps with match pellets

Changed the ball to a smaller size no increase of velocity

Put a 4mm sim behind the bolt main spring chrono at 320 fps with 8.2 gn match pellet

Surprize chrono with gsmith 9.2 gn 350 fps

Yet a very snooth and accurate rifle to play aournd with

Wow, sawbones thank you for such a detailed post! Many many years ago I used to own a Cadet, with which I competed in 3 Delhi State (open sight) matches (in the 80's) but I gave it away to a cousin eons ago as it wasn't seeing any action with me. Restoring the piece I have with me now is as much a nostalgia trip as it is a response to a challenge from a gunsmith who said it was beyond repair!

Frankly I haven't progressed much with the Cadet as I've been a bit caught up for the past few weeks. It's current condition is... well, to begin with it's in two pieces due to a missing screw/ bolt which locks the action to the stock. Also the cocking bolt handle has broken off and will need to be rewelded/ reattached in some manner, unless I can get that part from IHP - the metal tube with the cocking bolt handle, any idea what they call this part?

As you can imagine, due to it's current condition I haven't yet filled it with CO2, which reminds me there is no bulk fill tank with this gun. Would you have any idea as to whether normal paintball tanks can be used to fill it (without modification)?

If you wish to boost up the power - how about machining a slight groove in the probe and sliding on an "O" ring there? Should work like a sort of breech seal and push up the FPS as well as somewhat improve shot to shot consistency.

Any clue as to how one can further increase the volume of gas released by the valve?

Okay if you read what the yanks are doing with the Crosman and QBseries of air rifles the fps go up dramatically by using a stronger hammer spring and a lighter spring inside the valve. The IHP valve seems similar but this is just conjecture on my part as I don't even have a tenth of the skill and knowledge that you have. Keep up the great work Doc. Take a peek at the 'New Crosman Forum' something might just click on how to boost the fps.
