amk,

I do not know about the condition or vintage of the Star SI pistol. But it has some advantages ......

1. It was manufactured till 1983. I hope you are looking at a late model.
2. External Hammer
3. Loaded chamber indicator/window
4. Better sights
5. Larger grips
6. High Magazine release
7. Does it have a quick take down lever ? If yes , it is another advantage over Ashani
8. Better quality ( I dare say)

best,

I've had a star model d for several years (it's in .380) and a colt 1908 (also in 380). And I tend to agree with the previous writer. However, as tha Ahanti is locally made getting repair parts and repairs done might be easier with the Indian made pistol.

No I don't carry either one on duty or as an off duty weapon. that I reserve for a french made walther PPK/s. But that's another story.

I don't know how old the Star is. I'll have to check the proof marks and check online.

I think the loaded chamber indicator and quick take down lever are only in the 'Super' versions of the Star. The field strip method is exactly like the 1911.

Apparently Stars are as good, if not better than Llamas and Astras. Surprisingly, even the .32 is not blowback operated, it operates on the locked breech mechanism. I don't know of any other .32 pistol in the market which uses that mechanism. Also the lockwork internally is simplified to a great from a 1911 style pistol.

Lets see which of these comes up first for sale, I may get that.
