How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
Greetings,
Recetnly I wanted to apply for arm license in Lucknow, in sports / target shooting quota.
I hold NRA member ship, have travelled widely around the world, and pay very handsome Income tax.
Yet I can't get a license straight ,for, the "suvidha shulk" department doesn't give any shit for my professional standings, Arms act 1959 and ammendments there of.
In short the expenses will be 5k - 10k for rifle license alone, not even talking about a CCW.
The breakup was explained as follows -
2-3 K for the police report,
2K for other "Tahseel reports"
2-4K for presenting the case to the collector.
All this when I am a person of good character , with no crime record what-so-ever, and pay my taxed religiously.
Now this could be my wicked laywer but when I enquired with other fellows they said "don't pay if you want to get the license in a years or forget about the application alltogether."
Has anyone else undergone a similar experience ? Please share.
Regards

Ticky ???
Are you serious ?
I was thinking that its a loot , why should I pay a single penny to some stupid cop and SOB clerk?
If you say it must be right then, 10k for having my rightful license , British would have done something similar, I hope, but in that case it would go to their treasury and not in deep pockets of "baboos" and "B**** jee" .

Thread is being unlocked, discussing the sorry state of affairs is not against the laws of the land....
Just a note of caution: Members should not get carried away and cross the invisible line here. We cannot allow anyone advising/ assisting someone in contravening the laws of the land, this includes bribery/ corruption, which unfortunately has gotten to be such a daily occurrence that many of us tend to forget that offering/ accepting/ demanding bribes is not only unethical but a crime.
Cheers!

Many thanks moderators !!
I was only expressing my frustrations about the working of system and was questioning why I have to pay someone and was not pushing the practice.
Its legal to pay one's lawyer no matter how he explains the heads .
I am loving IFG more and more at least we have a place where freedom of speech is respected.
Cheers to all

Many thanks to Moderators for unlocking the thread. Yes it is very depressing to hear about such incidences of corruption. Only practical solution what I can think of, if we can some how get rid of/ minimize this "License" raj for arms.

Many thanks to the Moderators for reviewing earlier decisions to block unlawful talk about bribery etc. !
A case in point is the discussion of payment of 'promptness' fee to the babus in DM's Office in Kanpur (for SAF & FGK), which was immediately deleted...

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
Update -
My lawyer called me today for getting other informations today to support license thing, so I gave my NRA membership card though i have no idea if NRA is considered or recognized in India or not, though they have presence in ISSF events.
Along with that I attached my professional references, my work experiences, my passport copy, my visas etc.
If still i don't get a license it would be a nightmare.Should I include my tax returns as well ?
Regards

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
Update :
I am told that income tax return won't do any good, though I thought it would be a significant part of my application as the income tax I pay directly counts towards my contribution in nations wealth.
Anyways that is how its going for now.
Another update is that CCW is straight no to majority of applications, I wonder why is this so, the arms act doesn't mandate a separate handling for CCW applications.

CCW? There is no separate provision/ permission required for concealed carry in India, an arms license is all you require. Someone has misled you...eternalme wrote:Update :
