Re: Changing handgun Advice needed about handgun price
If caliber is not important, the CZ seems to be the best bet according to me. Check with the availability of ammunition in your parts though. The IOF pistol also seems to be an ok buy. The rest..........less said the better.

Re: Changing handgun Advice needed about handgun price
manu,
The .25 is a very weak round and its ME is less than a .22 round.its neither fit for plinking(expensive) nor self defense in my opinion.the S&W top break might be a .32 short where ammo might be problem and expensive.1.5L for a used IOFB ashani sounds too much for me as you can get a new one for under 70k and getting it blued is not a big matter.as prabath had already said, the less said the better about other guns.My choice and advice is to go for a brand new ashani.
cheers,
Ravi teja

The list is mainly composed of overpriced obsolescent junk.IOF .32 pistol sells for about 1.30lkhs.So even that is overpriced.

Re: Changing handgun Advice needed about handgun price
manu,
Do you want a pistol or a revolver ? That is the first thing that you got to decide , both have their own merits . In case you want a pistol , Ravi has given you a very good advice. Go for the Ashani ( brand new) , it is even cheaper now ( read the Ashani thread on IFG) and you do get an extra magazine. Plus you have all the liberty in the world to get it blued or keep the nickle finish and choose what ever grips you like in LESS than HALF the price you have been quoted.
best,
RP.
PS. You said you are changing your handgun, which one do you have presently ?

S&W Snubby is great Manu, If I were you. I'd buy "my" uncle a IOF Ashani and keep the S&W myself .manu wrote: I have S&W snuby right now. I am not selling it my Uncle need it.

I have never handled or even seen a Le Basque .32 pistol. I have only handled Llama and Star/Astra as far as Spanish handguns go, and they are alright ( in our circumstances) , not the top of the line handguns you see.
During WW I ,Spain had its arms making industry setup in the northeastern Basque region . It was a source of supply for handguns to various military in Europe as they manufactured them in calibers that were common to those forces .There were over 30+ companies that manufactured these pistols under several names, most of them unheard of, in India. The manufacturing somewhat continued even after WW II .
Le Basque is probably one of them, lets call "her" a pretty cousin of Ruby !!

The quality of Spanish gun varies. Some are good others are not . I am giving you a link so you can read what an owner if 16 Spanish handguns has to say about them .... http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=68737
IMHO you should drop the idea of buying the Ruby Cousin ( costing about four times as Ashani ) and should settle with the Ashani till you get a better handgun.
best,
RP.

The Basque pistol has a alloy body. If you are interested in alloy body than you may consider the offer.

Manu,
my advice is go for the new IOF 2008 and get it blued if you want. It will be the cheapest and the best. The Arminius is again an alloy body.
