Post by sagar » Wed Jan 28, 2009 12:15 pm

Hello Everybody,

This is to inform all,

http://www.gsmithco.com/

I recently visited gsmith of pune Mr.Prasad informed me of TWO Models of Air Rifle they say they have manufactured with high precision using imported barrel, springs, etc. to maintain good level of accuracy.

1) Model 250 .177 cal. for Rs. 9500/- at his shop.
2) Model 350 .177 cal. for Rs. 14500/- at his shop.

I will let you know about any other information as I receive.

Thanks.

Finally the mystery is solved.

These rifles are IHP Model 25 and 35 powerplants respectively with some imported barrel (could be Diana), Diana rear sight, maybe Diana main spring and possibly Diana scope rail.

This shop wont sell you Diana spares citing import rules / restrictions...blah blah blah, but will use the spares to soup up a decent Indian rifle, with questionable practices and results (oil in chamber for dieseling and consequently higher velocities) and sell them at exorbitant prices.

I do hope I am wrong about all this but atleast one member here has been had by this shop.

By the way gsmith does not have any manufacturing facilities to manufacture air guns, contrary to what they claim.

Buyer Beware.

For complete information about Prasad/Kulkarni and their "accurate" air rifles, you can refer to some posts in our forum itself. Some of them however are of "SOS" in nature !

Hello fantumfan2003,

I am not speaking on their behalf, Nor am I recommending anything,

Just sharing my information with all.

Gsmith also say they have a pellets manufacturing plant near 'Alandi', pune.

Thanks.

Yes Sujay,

What you say is quite true, They claim a lot of things many of which raise a doubt about it being true.

Thanks.

sagar,

Of course you are not.

Appreciate your sharing the info.

Yes they manufacture pellets. And they are quite good for day to day practice.

Any possibilities of pictures of the air rifles ?

Fantum...dont these guys read previous posts/threads in this forum..there was another chap glorifying the same gun a little while ago...

Heres what I have to say...wanna risk after this...go ahead

1. The G350 is nothing but an inferior version of the IHP35
2. Dimensions are the same as that of IHP35
3. Imported barrel - my foot, and bent too
4. Imported iron front sight - yes..straight from Diana...Gunmark used glue to ensure it stays put
5. Imported iron rear sight - yes ...straight from Diana ...Gunmark used glue to ensure it stays put
6. Leather breech washer - 400 shots and already blown
7. Sloppy barrel locking pin - I had to use thread locker
8. Cocking lever hinge - slips out with each shot
9. Cocking lever barrel pivot screw pin - low grade
10. Cocking shoe - worn out - I had to braze it using brass fill
11. Scope rail - yes - straight from Diana - all three holding screws improper in tapped holes, comes off
12. Chamber - ID just not parallel throughout- I had to hone it
13. Trigger - worst direct trigger I have come across - had to hard press and machine it
14. Spring guide - split and bent - I had to make a new one with brass, matching the honed chamber
15. Spring - imported - my foot, I have original Diana springs and there is no comparison
16. Piston - improperly machined and piston rod not centered - had it trued by a specialist
17. Piston washer - Derlin head broken, and leather washer improperly sized - had to use regular
IHP washer in the end
18. Stock screws - tripped already - had to re tap and use next oversize screws
19. Pellet holder - came off at the first shot

Sagar ...how would precision fit in here...

Leave alone Gunmark not having a definite quality assurance plan ...I doubt if they have any manufacturing facility

Beware Buyers

Hi pkjeetesh,

Can I stand up now? Don't want to be in your Line-Of-Fire...

And what a Firing it is no stop to Re-Load.

I wanted to inform all because there are many who would secretly buy the gun not wanting to disclose it to anyone & then suddenly Announce their Prized possession (for begginers).
Now they will have some idea before they move ahead.

Thanks for sharing your most Bitter experience with gsmith.

Thanks.
