.315 Folding Butt
Recently i saw this Additional attachment for the IOF .315 Rifles on the Govt. website. Does any one here in IFG tried this attachment on their Rifles?
I wold love to know about the quality of metal and how comfortable it is when when used for the long range shooting.

Govt. website ( ofbindia.gov.in) doesn't have this pic. You have possibly taken this photo from this link http://www.gunaccessory.com/accessories/ which is not a Govt website.dodger";p="62588 wrote: Recently i saw this Additional attachment for the IOF .315 Rifles on the Govt. website.
Folding stocks on assault rifles are understandable but on the sporting rifles (if you can call RFI .315 that) I fail to understand their logic apart from concealment purpose !! Putting a folding metal stock on RFI.315 is a waste of time , energy and money. It makes both the rifle and the folding stock look ridiculous. As it is there are already several problems with the RFI .315 rifle and KF .315 bullet, adding a folding stock would make the problems even worse. Long range shooting with this kinda stock would neither be comfortable nor accurate.
In my opinion, well made wooden gun stocks add to the beauty of long guns be they rifles or shotguns .
If you want to modify and beautify your .315, here is a thread

One will need a very able surgeon to have one's face reconstructed in case the folding stock buckles up while shooting. That's how I think about it.

dodger,
the 315 folding stock might have been designed keeping the private security gaurds in mind but most of them carry the DBBL and SBBL guns with pistol grip due to lower cost of accquiring one.i have never seen a 315 modified like this but i can say for sure that it wont be comfortable at all.
cheers

no rifle that is to be used for accuracy in sports etc would not perform well, most rifle/shotgun that have a folding stock is used for close up works.
you will have problems with aiming and it would lack that sturdiness of a solid stock. you will have big problem in using the rifle in stock folded position.
All that the stock does on sporting rifle is to make it look sexy (without the sexual excitement) in other words bloody usless piece of kit.

that folding-stock is no good.dont wory about stock of your rifle.as soon as you get your rifle, come to bhopal and we will select a good piece of seasoned saagwan from our farm and get your stock designed by the best gunsmith .

Re: .315 Folding Butt
I have got my rifle .315 fitted with this folding butt ,it might not be very accurate on target practice but its comfort is equal to the stock butt IOF provides us and most important its easy to carry and manage in a vehicle car,suv etc cause with stock butt its difficult to entre and exit from the door and nobody can see the weapon also.

Reviving a dead horse..but thanks to the members for this informative post.I was about to consider getting a new IOF 3006 with folding stock(that has become available recently); guess i will give it a go if accuracy is gonna be compromised even a bit as an inaccurate gun is equal to no gun..
