Gummark 350 ...stripped
Dear Friends...today, I finished making the spring compressor that I was talking bt..with the help of my colleague who is also a shooting enthusiast..we stripped open the G350..I had complained earlier bt the gun not living upto my expectations...we found out that the fibre washer, leather seal and derlin head had almost come off the piston...in fact the derlin head had been already been broken...the seal seemed intact and the spring too was not broken...the gun had dieseled for almost 300shots earlier...the spring had 36coils and seemed unusually longer..GSmith told me earlier that they had used an original Diana spring...I have an RWS54 spring which is shorter with 34 coils...put a new oiled GSmith model 35 leather seal and derlin head along with washer...and re assembled the gun...but not before lubing the spring with motorcycle chain grease...Piston, seal and rear spring guide with Moly paste (MOLYKOTE)..I was careful not to introduce any oil in the chamber...shot 175 pellets at timed intervals ....the gun shot well at 50m with little holdover...Im satisfied...feel a little sheepish now after crying foul....I thank Mack The Knife bt the topic regarding lubing the internals....Mack The Knifes views regarding the failure of the gun in my earlier topic fired me up to investigate...today I have a compressor and I know how to service a basic springer...thank Thirtha for the two rupee coin idea for tracking the main spring... this forum is fantastic...thank IFG mainly...here are some pictures...

Looks a helluva lot like the IHP, only major difference seems to be the scope rail and the fact that IHP's now come with a synthetic (parachute) piston washer.... they also cost less than INR 4,000/-

Dear Mundaire....the gun has a plastic match type trigger, a diana scope rail, diana sights rear and fore, diana spring (??), muzzle brake, pellet holder and a German barrel (???)...I had removed the front sight and muzzle brake ...everything else is just like the IHP..including the dimensions...I wonder if the longer spring they have used is the cause for extra power

JETHEESH,
nice to hear the gun is now shooting fine.how much you spend for the spring compressor?. if possible can you compare the parts of gun mark 350 and a ihp with all dimensions including weight especially of the piston.have a try by adding piston weight by customizing a heavy top hat. spot welding under the cylinder???does the clamps came off??

Re: Help required from Mack The Knife...Gunmark350
Beautiful pictures Hamiclar...I used 20mmx20mm MS square rod for the frame for weight purpose only + I wanted a clear look at all sides of the gun...improvement is ON...it is difficult to lube the inside of the piston with an even coat...any ideas on how to do it...we smeared moly at the outer edge (read ID) and pushed the grease inside using a rubber hose of appropriate OD...since I wanted no oil/lubricant in the chamber ...just pushed and rolled an oily rag for the coat...rough spots in the chamber (there were many) were removed using fine emery...

Re: Help required from Mack The Knife...Gunmark350
Dear Ronish...will do that once I strip an IHP..im sure the spring is longer in this gun when compared to the IHP atleast by an inch...if the current leather washer/seal fails then I intend on machining a PTFE parachute type seal next..right now collecting information on heatwithstand and self lube properties of materials...

Re: Help required from Mack The Knife...Gunmark350
Can anybody explain this...400 shots and the Gunmark is still dieseling....though not alarming...yet there is a low smoke...there is no loss in power and accuracy is OK...

Leather washers need a bit of 'Internal combustion' to help it achieve optimal performance.
so a bit of smoke after a shot is actually a good thing. however if you find oil spitting out of the barrel and a helluva lot of smoke with a loud crack then that might be something due to over oiling.

Thanks Sniper..one more problem....at times the trigger doesnt hold up and even before you take aim the shot goes off?????....now this is dangerous....any clues?....do you think the spring at the rear of this direct trigger is faulty or is the sear jumpy?
