loose/ragged seal
Hello, I have purchased a new IHP National 35 (0.22) air rifle. I have found that the seal around the breech is ragged and part of it is coming off in shreds. Another problem i have encountered is that the barrel closes very loosely and at times it opens up right at the time of firing. I would like to know how common are such problems and what needs to be done. hh

Happy,
The problems you have encountered are not that common. First thing you need to do is return the airgun and exchange it for another one. Please try out a few before you make the final purchase. Also, write to IHP about this problem. See what they have to say.

hh...the breech washer can be replaced with a new one...oil it before inserting it into the breech block...use a soft hammer to do this...excess can be sheared of with a new blade...the washer must be flush with the loading port (hole)...if the barrel is closing loosely...then it must be the locking pin...tighten the screw holding it which is on the left hand side of the breech block...for this pin to be visible...the gun must be cocked...do this carefully while holding the barrel all the time and ensuring that the trigger is no where near any contact point...these problems are common with the IHPs...

Right said Ronish...the spring too must be checked..and the pin aligned...nothing like a good fitting O ring..I agree with that too..

Said like a badshah...exchange/replace etc.,...you dont need a forum then...what happens when the seal eventually wears out....when the lock pins give up...
