Custom Barrel Weight for Diana 52 **New Pics Added**

Post by Mo » Sat Dec 13, 2008 11:38 pm

Hi Guys!

Find the original post here.

As part of the Custom Diana project, I had a barrel shroud made.

I spent long hours at the machinist to get this baby done.

Two models were made. Both exactly the same in appearance, but one weighs a whopping 1.3kg and the other 470gms.

I did this so that I can practice with the heavier one thus making hand holding the rifle easy with the lighter shroud attached. The POI shifts considerably, but I'm not zeroing the rifle yet. So its alright.

Here's a pic I had on my phone. Will upload better pics later.

Image

The design is two part. The head unscrews to reveal a ported barrel sleeve. Once I figure out the legalities, a suppressor may be incorporated. The body attaches to the original barrel sleeve with a flush fitted grub screw. Its 250mm long with a diameter of 35mm (same as the action).

As before, I painted it. But this time, primer was used :)

Do let me know what you think of it.

Mo.

Lol Ashok.. Thanks!

Its not that heavy bro.. Its good to have some weight at the barrel end.

Once I get used to the heavy shroud, I'll swap it for the light one. The the gun will fell much lighter to me! :)

Its a plan, lets see how it goes.

The flashlight mount including the flashlight will be less than 100gms.. So its cool ;)

Mo: knowing you you've probably got A grade schematics of the shroud and bipod. Let's see them. Did you use aluminum alloy or mild steel - or both, for the shrouds ?
