Info. on muzzle velocity of Indian made springers..!

Post by Kumarnishith » Thu Dec 11, 2008 9:52 am

Hi Guys..
Do you people have any info. regarding muzzle velocity of various Indian made springers? I have read that some imported springer(BSA, Diana, Webley and Scott) have MV more than 1000 ft/sec..What 'bout their Indian Counterpart? I mean IHP/National, Tommy, Sisco etc..I tried searchin the net but found no info regarding it..:-(
P.s IHP site does mention MV for its Pneumatic Air rifle (its 500ft/sec) but not for their springers!!

Kumar,
The velocity of a IHP in .22 calibre is in the 400-450 fps range.

Thanks a lot pran..400-450ft/sec....Hmmm..ok tell me one thing can a .177 cal Pneumatic Air rifle with MV 500ft/sec can effectively be used for pest control as effectively as a .22 cal springer with MV of 400-450 ft/sec..I understand that a .22 pellet has more punch but .177 sure has more flatter trajectory and thus accuracy..moreover pneumatic air rifle have less recoil then springer..!!
whats do you think?

"punch" as you put it....will be more for .22 at 450fps than for .177.

At what range you will engage in pest control will also matter.

google is your best friend. Once you get your air rifle , read up on the net on the basics and put it to practice.

These two links should answer all you queries ....

Kumar, Fantum's right in saying that .22 pellet will have more energy than a .177 pellet moving at the same velocity.

Fantum's right again, 'effective' use depends on what distance you're shooting from.
