Thanks for the reply TenX! I think I'm going to work on the club membership. After hearing such strong suggestions from folks like you and Sankar, I think I'd be a fool if I tried my luck!

Thanks for all your time guys!

I would suggest you dont take any chances and just get a club membership asap...
One wide-throw option would be to call up TNT and ask them if they will give an assurance in clearing the same, which I seriously doubt...

Adding to the above I still have one question which has is the big question.

When the parcel lands in India it would probably be New Delhi (as I am located only 200 Kms away from Delhi).
Would the custom clearence be done at the Delhi Posts or would the parcel be inspected in the city of delivery?

If the inspection is done in Delhi & some problems arose I would need to go to Delhi!

would be easy to manage in my city.

i am sure that you will have to attend a interview in FPO with all the documents copy already mentioned by you. but nothing to worry you have the dgft condition satisfactory documents.it may look tedious but simple when you attend the interview .

Good luck

Shamsher, if your city does not have a Foreign Post Office, you may need to go to Delhi.

Bloody Americans goofed up and sent me Shamsher's Blunderbus to my Mexican address, with all letters addressed to Indian customs. Now it is stuck in Mexican customs which is just a tad better than Indian customs.
Crossman claims they can only ship to the credit card billing address but never informed me :x

Anyway I have a friend (read... desi jugaar) to try and get it out.

Hold on to the dispatch - I need to scan & email you the shooting club membership card. & my ID card.
This may take a week as the card is still not made here. -

It is important that all the paperwork must be sent with the parcel - just in case we have a literate post officer, it might work - anyways i am prepared for the worst.

You know what.his rifle. I have just ordered a Leapers scope for it. You must have guessed it...I am keeping it now. Will send you another one.

Also, I was sent a .22 not a .177 which is another disaster avioded. They charged me for a .177 though.

Pavan/Shamsher
Getting a .22 across could be rough water... The import relaxation to club members is for .177 only, AFAIK ...
