Congrats Sniper! It is an achievement in itself and the feel of becoming a gunowner very soon is even better.

Thank you all. Not decided on the DBBL yet. The IOF is on my mind but not the first choice. Will let you know once the final choice is made.
I thank IFG for its encouragement with regard to this.
Rusty thanks for your help with the queries I had.

You ought to decide whether you want a SXS or a O/U.

No it does not. "Hunting" for a gun and finally buying it and then shooting with it is definitely more pleasurable.

cheers,

RP.
It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !

Hello everyone,
I'm novice and hence won't feel ashamed if its a silly question, please bare.
From what I read so far, in shooting as a sport, actual fire-arms are used as well (apart from airguns).
How would a beginner who hasn't won/participated in any competitions, get the license to practise or possess a fire-arm.
Wouldn't the licensing process demand in the first place, the achievement from competitions and that is yet to come?

BTW, I'm in touch with AIMCO for the national 35 .177 caliber air rifle.
I hope to set in my first foot soon.

Thanks & Regards,
Virendra S Rathore

Welcome aboard Virendra. Good that you are starting off with the IHP. Use it for a few days and see if the interest really lasts. Next thing to do would be to get enrolled into your local rifle association. You will get to use the firearms available with the club. Practice regularly and see how it goes. Try and participate in a few state level competitions after you qualify for them. Based on your performances, you can then approach the relevant authorities for a license to own a firearm for sporting purposes. All the best.

Prabath is right. Thats a good way to start. Also try your hand on Pistols, Trap @ Skeet too. You never know if you are a natural ace in any of them :)
