I never had any pellets seized dude, though I did pay cvd. My pellets none dare seize as they are blessed by Mack The Knife :-).

Gsmiths are okay, that's what I normally use on my air pistol till mundaire and olly went and got me h&n match pellets. Normally my rifle groups well with Crosman Premier's in .177 and even in .22.

But you can't beat h&n field target trophy...I use them like gold bullets cause Mack The Knife sent me a pack from his dwindling resources. :-).

I use Crosman Premiers for most plinking as in .22 the gsmith's are too heavy for my rifle. I use them when I have nothing else.

Importing Air Rifle into India without a club license?

Post by ragunnaath » Thu Nov 06, 2008 2:51 pm

Hi All,

I hope I'm posting this in the right topic area. If I'm not, please excuse me and request the moderators to move it to the right bucket.

Well, I'm looking to buy a new Air Rifle and I like a few models on www.pyramidair.com.

If I'm not wrong, I read in a post that importing an air rifle into India via courier requires you to be a part of a rifle club or association. Can someone second this? Is there any other way I could import a rifle via the courier service?

Secondly, if the above is not possible, can anyone suggest a good dealer in Chennai where I can find imported Air rifles? Especially a one with an under lever?

Thank for taking time to look at this post!

Regards,
Ragu

Hmmm... Thanks for the confirmation Sankar! 50k is quite a bit for an Air Gun! I'd probably shell out a bit more and try getting a Rifle club membership!

And thanks for the response TenX. I did read those articles, however I still had some doubts if there were any other means to get the stuff into India as it usually happens with the Customs or the Govt. here. :)

Sankar, I dint quite get what you were trying to say. Are you saying I can ask the rifle club to import a rifle for me? Would thay do it even if I were not a member or is this something available only for CRC members?

I'd appreciate if you could explain a bit.

Folks,

I'm a bit confused here... I thought a rifle club/association membership was required to import air rifles into india. But looks like rahul567 has imported one without this constraint.

Does this mean I can go ahead and order one and have it shipped via TNT? Or are there still chances that the customs might hold it and ask for a membership proof? In such a case, if I'm unable provide any proof of membership what happens next? I suppose the rifle would get confisticated right?

Would appreciate if someone can help clarify this for me!

Rahul was mighty lucky, and may be all the uniforms were hanging to dry!
I would suggest you dont take any chances and just get a club membership asap...
One wide-throw option would be to call up TNT and ask them if they will give an assurance in clearing the same, which I seriously doubt...

some chaps are lucky might they have alladin lamp in their hands :-)
Tnt ,fedex have their won customs clearence in the airport but when it comes to airgun they will request the exim notes and related certificates like rifle club membership card to clear the gun .in chennai white officers are well educated about the airgun import procedures both in airport and foreign post so u have to submitt the rifle club card.
