Re: 44 Magnum
Ashar other than Clint Eastwood association, the cartridge have a very high coolness factor. it is a very good medium hunting cartridge but not a great combat cart in my opinion as guns for 44 are heavy and large so they are more difficult to carry and conceal.recoil with full power loads makes double tapping more difficult and time consuming.
i had bought a S&W 29 in 1997 for PKR 70000/- with 150 rounds, when my stock finished, i was not able to find more rounds and finally sold it in 1999.for comparison Beretta 92 was then selling for 65000/- which is currently at 400,000/. but i will love to own a S&W revolver now in mountain gun size, and i do like Desert Eagle in 44 magnum.
regards.

Thanks. Shot a dan wesson 41 mag long ago. That was easier to handle. 44 mag is a bit much.marksman";p="58184 wrote: BTW, the Dirty Harry 44 Magnum was also built on "N" frame by Smith and Wesson. Hence the similarity but the one I am talking about is far more superior in workmanship compared to a Model 29. You will notice the forged and case hardened hammer and trigger if you observe carefully. Sorry, I forgot to mention that while answering, Dev.

Specially in the N frame. Which is why the Dan Wesson versions were more popular along with the Ruger models. Just a load of trivia not that I'm gonna have the greenbacks to buy one for a while. Dev

Could I request you to refrain from mentioning the prices you get to pay.. Everytime you do, it makes me feel like hitting my head against the wall for the prices we pay here

Re: 44 Magnum
ok 10x i will try to do so in future but believe me i got rally frustrated to see such prices being paid for self defense guns. i mean if i have 7 lacs to buy a Walther PPK/S, i will surely do something more important such as upgrading of my car and yes i also know that it is matter of setting priorities.

Re: 44 Magnum
Aloha,
Personally, I prefer the M-57/58 Smiths in 41 magnum.
Same everything Except bore size and recoil.
Recoil is Noticeably Less when magnum rounds are fired.
Doubtful if animal will know the difference between a hit with a 41 vs 44.
The 41 is a true .41 in while the 44 is .429
If it were a true .44 the recoil would be less than what it is now.
I have a 329PD, the lightweight scandium version.
I have fired Only 44 spl rounds in it. Even the spl rounds are NASTY in it.
Never fired full magnum rounds. I don't need to go to Emergency.....
I got it for when I was thinking of going fishing in back country Alaska.
Figured it would be lighter to carry than my 6" M-657 41 mag.
But, as things turned out, I never made it back to Alaska.
Here's a good interesting article on the 41 magnum
http://www.defensivecarry.com/forum/gen ... agnum.html
This will give an idea of it's following

Perhaps the 41 may be easier to import than a 44 ?

Re: 44 Magnum
My bet would be that .41 Magnum ammo would be even harder to find in India than .44 Magnum. Even in the US not every gun store carries it. The number of devotees, I am one of them, is relatively small.Godara wrote:Thanks for reply yogi bear m greatful i will do a little more reaserch after considering all this .41 is a gud option as .44 magnum rounds wont be easily avilable in india one of ma other friend also suggested about .357 they are most easyly avlable magnum rounds in india
