Since the damage was already done, one may as well make the best of what one has. That it came out well is a credit to your work, not mine. Same applies if the paint starts peeling.
All the more reason to keep the peeling to myself! :-P

Hmmm. Dispensary road huh? (Now to find out where that is!)

I will grab a couple of cans of primer. Another question, stupid it may be, but nevertheless: I've seen painters use a clay coloured primer most of the time. Is that the only shade it comes in? Maybe its so that you can actually see where you've painted and where you've missed. But, does it come in black in either case?

But will you be able to keep the removal of the lens coatings to yourself? Do take the time to read Inder's signature. I am so going to enjoy this.

I did read it on my way to book tickets to Dubai. :-P I'm escaping! This time for good.
You should not keep sparaying paint over a chequered surface as it makes it shallower. Once painted (bare minimum) and dry, cover it with masking tape and continue spraying on the remainder of the stock. Remove the tape, if you want to apply a coat or two of clear laquer to the stock.
I'm afraid I may have gone a bit overboard there. The pistol grip part is fine with deep chequering. But the stock sides had shallow checkering to start with. But its not all lost. The chequering is still there, a bit covered but the paint being matt, does not affect that much.

I need you to see it for some pointers. I am completely happy with the result, but I want the job to be perfect. I dont want it to appear amateurish by any yardstick.

We'll meet up one of these days when you're free.

Lol.. Diana's pretty old. I'm sure she's just as ugly now. :-)

As for Rusty, it is a widely debated topic whether this man has any feelings - physical or otherwise. I mean technically speaking, there's only so much distance the sensory nerves can carry information to the brain. By the time they pass all the layers of hardened fat, the info is lost.

As for emotions, Hmmm... :-D
