bwahahahaa

Post by dev » Mon Oct 20, 2008 2:45 pm

I was out of the normal 15 grain Crosman premiers that I feed my rifle. Hence I was using some heavy pellets (gsmith) out of compulsion. Finally my supply of hollow point premier's came in 3 tins (thank you my U.S. mules).Earlier the rifle sounded quieter and slowly even stopped penetrating cans with authority.

This was partly also due to me running low on Co2. So after a long time I i got my 20 ounce bottle filled and after filling the rifle, picked up the Crosman pells and took off to the 8 metre home range. I squeeze the first shot and bwang... I had forgotten how nice and loud it used to be. And the pellet goes through the deoderant can...heee...heee...heee. Next pellet goes thru the soup can. I shoot a bottle cap and the pellet goes thru and punctures the concrete flower pot behind it. And its still loud as it can be after about 40 pellets with the bulk extension tube filled.

I am having too much fun at forty yards it is shoving pellets deep into tree bark. It is so nice to have my excellent rifle back to full power again.
I wish that more of you all would try it out as its very different from a springer,
yes a little more of a pain with the Co2 and all but once all the planets align
...its a lot of fun. Very easy to shoot and almost mimics a bolt action .22 rifle.

how do u fill the bulk tube with co2 bottle?
Normally co2 are fillled by weight and not by measurin pressure how do u calculate the co2 level while filling the tube?

Not a teaser actually, just happy that I have a smooth shooting iron. Its a mac1 tuned qb 78 that has parts that have been worked on by another tuner Mike Mellick of flying dragons. I was just feeling good that after the papads I have baked, the effort has been rewarding.

Sankar I fill the Co2 from a bulk bottle for about five to seven seconds. It has a gas bleed that vents the excess gas as you remove the bottle.
So its a little like a blind fill but pretty okay, that's how most QB's are filled all over.

Next I have to get in is a magazine that has been designed for it in England by Rowan engineering. The good part about the QB platform is that the possibilities are endless. They actually offer more alternatives than the air force guns.

I got the valve stem that he had modified, plus the ice maker tubing on the gas port and his free instruction manual on how to strip and put a QB 78 together. Co2 is not such a bug bear. You need a paintball tank and a ASA to NPT adapter. Then the local medical or industrial gas supplier should be able to fill it up.

Now a 20 ounce tank fill costs Rs. 90 and that should keep me shooting for the month. Sometimes you also get free Co2 from friends like NM. Refillable Co2 rifles are quite fun.

Tims is a great guy but Mike is more effacing and is known for tuning rifles according to what you want.

Have you read about the new pcp devil Jack Hailey?
You might just go direct with a compressed air version, that's one powerful rifle at a fraction of the cost of a pcp and again scalable to something even more powerful.

I'm not sure yet but the Rowan engineering one is supposed to index automatically. There is a relatively wallet friendly one being made in the US that indexes manually.
