I am surprised!

I don't know how many of you agree, the IHP tube is not capable to accept any teflon washer unless a major work done there. And perhaps a professional tuner can do that. I doubt in India we have any.

Hi Friends,

I am facing problems with my recently purchased IHP 25 4.5mm air rifle.

1. During(or just after) recoil, the rear end of the spring chamber bounces from the stock.
2. One of the two main screws gets loose after every 10-15 shots.

Can anybody guess the reason and what could be done to check above problems?

Whether, rear end of the tube be fastened with the stock with metal plate or it will damage the metal?

Regards,
Rahul

id4gun,
Clearly, your problem and solution lies in your post :) No need to guess much :)
Its a problem with the main screw holding the metal unit in place.

I am assuming that you have properly fastened the screws in your above complaint. Get about checking that, and this time, you can use some screw-locking agent. This will fit the screw in a little more tightly, and is advised for springers.

Can you tell if
1. It is the side screw or the bottom screw that keeps coming off?
2. The threading on the screw is bad.

Two side screws and one bottom screw (the one in front of the trigger) hold the metal unit in place with the wood. If any of these screws is not fit in well, the recoil of the spring will make the metal unit go amiss.

This could be because the screw has lost its threading. In which case, you will have to replace the screws and fit the unit well.
Otherwise, if the threading on the metal unit is bad (you will know this only when you remove the stock apart from the metal unit), then it may require a bit more work. You may sometimes fit in a slightly oversized screw, or you may have to re-do the threading on the metal unit.

Hope this info helped :)

Thanx TenX,

Its the right Side screw which gets loose though doesn't fall (before I notice). Other two are pretty sound.
As you advised, I am planning to lock it by pouring some glue. I hope it will work.
I have never opened the gun. So I think its risky if could not reassemble it back.

Thanx again,
Rahul

DUDE.. Dont 'pour' any glue... Thats not what I advised...

You have to use a screw 'thread locking solution'... You slightly dampen the screw (apply a coating on the threading) with the thread locking solution and fit the screw back, leave it for some time, and you may be done.

Have you checked the screw for threading gone bad?

Matter of fact, its not so difficult to open the 3 screws and put them back.. But I'd personally prefer you dont do anything now :)

Does anybody know where we can get a proper sized O-ring breech seal for the IHP in .22?

I had a conversion done at Kovi Shop a couple of days ago. Though the O-ring does the job well, its not the correct size. Not in diameter, but in thickness. Its too thin. For example if the old leather breech seal had an OD of 1.5cm and an ID of .5 cm, the new O-ring has an OD of 1.5cm and an ID of 1cm.

So while its effectively sealing the breech, there is a gap between the O-ring and the barrel. Its stuck using glue to the outer wall of the breech. But since there is no resistance from the inner end, it may start coming out with use.

I dont know how much sense this makes, so I've added a crude illustration. I dont have the gun with me now for a picture.

So I need an O-ring of the proper size.. Any ideas?

OK.. I checked. I guess I have something for you. Will give it the next time I meet. Again, this is hard rubberized sort of material used in photo copy machines :)
