Yep, been following all the skirmishes and discussions since it started . I always thought most of the Nilgai problem is near Rohtak, Jhazzar and Jind. Never saw one near GT road ever until recently. Somebody need to take care of them or someone going to get hurt very bad

Re: 4-Bore Elephant Gun
`Nilgai` not OK Asif. Nilgai are also known as `Punji sticks` ? Don`t think so. Grumpy confused. Of course confusing an idiot isn`t difficult.
Talking about animals on airport runways: After we arrived at one of the domestic terminals at Newark International Airport in 2005 instead of the international terminal ( very confusing for the people meeting us ) we heard one of the security guards speaking into her portable radio about `the herd of cows on the runway`. Must have been some sort of code as anyone who has ever been to Newark knows that there isn`t a cow within miles of the place !

You'd be surprised Grumpy-I have seen deer roadkill a few miles out of Newark airport and fields full of Canadian geese in Newark area! What are they, skeins of geese?
Nilgai is a kind of deer, Nilgai-as it remembles a cow (?) aka blue bull.
Causes havoc with its crop raiding and may be considered as open season game in a while if everyone has their head screwed on right(rare)

Naw what's a pink gin? You mean down it and then get 22 maneaters etc. Nice day dream but the Delhi winter and an afternoon with the right libations really sounds good. Maybe the bluebulls will also change colour after enough pink gin. Dev

Many variations are available, some must have made it to modern ceylon with its ongoing 'troubles'
Many of them in a pit, covered with a camouflaged bamboo mat and the trauma surgeon as well as the chopper air evac crews have business.
Hey, I read in the papers about Nilgai coming in on the delhi airport runway a couple of months ago-any one for a couple of pink gins?;)

PWM,
Some of the Vintagers members in the videos are members of the Nitro Express forums and of Accurate Reloading. The point I am trying to make is that these guns are black powder cartridge rifles. Though they kick hard, their recoil could be mastered. The new Owens and Searcy guns are designed for smokeless powder. Their recoil is certain to be much more significant and capable of badly injuring an unwary shooter or a wannabe hero who is trying to impress the girls.
Fortunately, the vast majority of shooters would never have access to these monsters, though, it has been suggested that there are more big bore rifles on sale these days than there are Cape Buffalo, Lion or Elephant permits sold in the whole of Africa.
Cheers!

I know what Nilgai are - just didn`t understand Asifs` `Nilgai OK` comment.
There are plenty of Nilgai available for hunting - it`s just that you have to go to Texas in order to find them !

There is a strong unwritten law what to do and what not, we call it: Waidgerechtigkeit, impossible to translate. And anything about 12 ga wasn't Waidgerecht. This comes now in change with the 10 ga steel shoot cartridges and the awaiting of a coming ban for lead shot for waterfowler's.
Blackpowder loads will kick more than nitro loads, best to feel with bore guns.
28 gramm slug and 80 grain blackpowder was my favorite plinking load for fun shooting with the 12 bore so I think knowing what such a "ligth " load will do.
I see in the videos that the shooter know how to handle the gun and think that evereone not to whimpy can learn this.

The Nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus) is an antelope.eljefe";p="5459 wrote:Nilgai is a kind of deer, Nilgai-as it remembles a cow (?) aka blue bull.
As I understand it, the name Nilgai or Blue Bull was coined during the reign of the Mughal emperor Akbar. By classifying it as part of the cow family, they were hoping that the Hindus wouldn't kill or eat it. And it worked...to some extent.
