Air Rifle in Hyderabad
Hi everyone...
I'm planning to buy an air rifle in hyderabad. My budget is something like
Rs. 3000-4000.. I have a few questions....
1. Will I get a good rifle in my cost range?
2. What should I look for when buying one?
3. Where can I buy a good one in hyderabad?
4. Can you suggest me some brands in my cost range?
5. I know that air guns don't require a license but a friend of mine told me that laws have been changed or something like that.. So do we require a license for an air gun?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Sidrao,
with your budget - the best buy would be the IHP 35-B, this is the .177 & you would be happy with it. Please note that almost all IHP air rifles have a defect in them with the pin lock system. you will have to select the best one from a lot.
The right way to check is by not jerking the barrel open but very slowly open it . you should get a feel of the pin working (locking & unlocking) in the proccess
The next step is to close / lock the barrel at this time there should be a click & the barrel should be locked firmly. a view from the underside will show that the pins are matched properly & provide a sturdy lock
you will have to repeat these steps a few times to detect that the pins are properly matched & are able to lock the barrel
This is important because when fired the piston hits the cyllender's end before the pellet is ejected from the barrel.
This jerk is enough to cause the barrel to open up slightly & your air rifle will never shoot straight.
The IHP is the best one avaliable here but this is the main defect which needs to be corrected.
I have tuned my IHP .177 & .22 & they shoot dead straight at 40 & 35 yards.
Wishing you all the best
Kind regards
Shamsher

Hi sidrao7,
You will get a fairly good air rifle in the budget you have but don't hope for big brands. Wait for the rains to subside and then set out for the gun shops. There are a few in Mozamzahi market and around Nampalli. Try different brands before buying one.
Srinivas.

Dear sidrao7,
Yes I think you can buy an IHP in Hyderabad. you can also buy an Air Rifle in any other city, seperate the butt and barrel pack the same and bring it home. You normally get a bill from the seller which has a stamp which says something like "License Not Required" hence may not have problems from the Police. Try this link for info on Rifle Association of A. P. http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=973

Air gun with power below a certain limit (that includes pretty much every single air rifle made in India) are completely exempt from all provisions of the arms act - hence no need for any license. police permissions etc. etc.
Your budget means that you're limited to only Indian made stuff... and as others have mentioned IHP is the best of the lot in that category...
Cheers!

AFAIK, Secunderabad Armoury near Chermas in Sec'bad are authorised dealers. Re the Nampally/Mozamzahi dealers, just be careful of rip-off types you are a novice.I suggest buying the IHP rifle. If you are not carrying your air rifle publicly in an attention grabbing manner, you are safe with the police.Get a carry case/slip.sidrao7";p="49477 wrote:I checked out IHP rifles on their website.. Thanks in advance.

You have to be very careful of dealers in Hyderabad. They will try to take you for a ride the moment they realize that you are a novice.Take someone who knows about air guns along with you. That might help a bit.
Cheers

Secunderabad armory is near the Chermas or Universal Bakery, south of Paradise circle. When getting out of Chermas, turn right, I think its the second or third shop, right between the shoe store, the sports shop and the optical store.sidrao7";p="49692 wrote: I've been trying to replenish my stock of pellets for a week. But all the shops in the mozamjahi market, koti are closed. Where exactly is the shop located in secunderabad? And are there any more shops? Also I want to know if the marksman pellets are good enough?
Thanks in advance...
