Crap day at the range...

Post by MoA » Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:23 am

My .260 is te shop getting a new barrel. Switching from a 1 in 9 to a 1 in 8. Dont trust it with the 142 SMK's
My .300 WM needs a thorough cleaning. The Action is dirty.. chamber is filthy...
The 8x60S.. I need to load more ammo for..

So decide to go at with the .222 RM and .22 LR.

I get to the range and...

instead of .222 Remington Magnum Ammuntion I have .222 remington ammunition...
and the magazine for my .22 is at home....

I am a little disappointed.
However headed back in the morning.

Reminds me of an old but true story about a friend's grandfather landing up at a pig shoot with an air-rifle instead of his Auto-5.

How bout a proud owner of a 475 and a 500 mixing up barrels for the shoot?the look on his face trying to figure out why his gun was not going to gether-may now be called a mastercard moment.
hey MoA, still waiting for some serious heartburn-pics of your 6.5x47 and the ''Jawohl, herr Oberst'' mauser.
Airgun for a pig shoot? was it the Indian version of the air gun steel challenge? ;)

6.5x47 will be a longer term project...
Am sticking to my .260 remmie for a while. Need to figure it out completely before deciding whether to add the 6.5x47 at all. From what eveyone I know is saying... not a significant difference between the performance.

Only plus point being the super high quality brass available from Lapua. I have had decent experience with the RP brass for the .260 so have been lucky so far.

I will take pics of the mauser soon and post.

Lets try this again:

Image

.300 WM + ammo Check
8x60s Mauser (Vz-24) + ammo Check
.22lr Cz452 + ammo check

The 8x60S and .300 WM ammo is what I have loaded. Am trying a new theory on accuracy...

a load that fills at least 85% of case, and burns at least 98% of the powder + has a barrel time according to about the 5 or 6th node of the Optimal Barrel Time.

My current temprary loading setup:

Shooter.. yes I do sometimes. I only have a lowly Fabarms over under...
Do trap maybe 4 or 5 times a year.

Primarily ifles, and black powder revolvers. Once in a while pistols... but loading for them is a PITA given how quickly one goes through ammo.

Sharminda kar rahe hain aap...

I only say lowly... because I picked it up on a whim.. for 150 euros... from a guy I went to buy a cleaning bench from. doubt if its an axis...
He in turn had inherited the gun, and had cut the first 1.5 inches of the barrel off...

It generally sits in my bed room alongside a few '00 cartridges.

Rifle shooting when ever you wish... no issues.
Shooting seems like a good idea. Lets meet up when I am back... and then figure out the how's and why's.

I have applied for the Euro permit as well... so Bisley might become an option as well.

Thats a nice collection MoA.I am not a rifle person that much but looking at your beauties, I think I should get myself a good rifle.
