Revolver debate...
This friendly Debate started today at tea time when my old class mate ,SP now visited my house. He is a proud owner of .32 colt dedtective snub nose and i carry .32 smith&wesson snub nose . COLT are really less in nuber in Indian market therefore costly but action of Smith is better , WITH this the debate started and 2 hours passed , we decided to conclude with a conclusion that it will be decide next month in RIFLE CLUB after firing several rounds. WHAT REVOLVER LOVERS in this forum think.....cheers JAMES...

I`ve always preferred Smiths to Colts.........except for the Python which is superb.

I agree with Grumpy.I have used a S&W model 31-1 in a 3 inch barrel and also a Colt Police Positive .32 and I feel that the S&Ws have a better action than the colts. I own a Colt Lawman Mk V 357 Mag but I still feel that S&Ws are better.I recently fired a friend's Smith and Wesson in 357 Mag with a 6" barrel and loved it except for the long barrel.
Most of the people here in Hyderabad prefer a S&W and this is mostly because of the gun dealers here. They rarely get a colt for sale and they like to promote the 31-1 rather than any other revolver.
The Colts are also comparatively cheaper to the S&Ws here in Hyderabad.

Colt and Ruger make excellent and sturdy revolvers and I believe so do S&W. My dad has had one with him for decades and it's admirably holding up to the "abuse" of letting of 10-20 rounds a year.... which is probably close to the number of rounds most revolvers in India would be shot in an entire lifetime...
Though in all fairness sometime back I did come across a rather negative article on S&W by Chuck Hawks - http://www.chuckhawks.com/smith-wesson_dark.htm
Cheers!

ruger revolvers are very good, i have shot 38 spl revolvers used by indian police. very good guns. even though the had been very badly maintained and we were using "no name" ammo.
in fact, if imports were allowed the one handgun i would like to have is the ruger SP 101 in 2 1/4 inch barrel and 357 mag (course i would load it with only 38 spl ammo)
