It's a Pieper Bayard 1908 in 7.65mm/ .32

http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Bayard/bayard.html

NOTE the following: "There is a gentleman, by the name of Don Chapman ([email protected]), who collects these pistols. Maybe he will write a book on them eventually, because he has been gathering information about them for some time. If you send him your Bayard serial number he will tell you approximately when it was made."

From the looks of this gun it seems to have been repaired and nickled to hide wear on metal parts. The makers name and logo should otherwise have been clearly visible.

BTW styershot had posted the same pistol in a pop quiz here at http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=430

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Yaps the nickel polish must have been done and the buffing would have removed all the traces of the name and other details. The pistol has a very prominent logo with a man on a horse.

Often people get the nickel polish done to give the firearm the custom made look...but it is a 32 bore for sure ....i have seen a few of them...though those were in black color.and I think even the grip is not original,....you normally get a black plastic grip with the name BAYARD written across it Its small size because I think its just a four shot(though I not really sure of that)
