Nice rifle John. Considering the bore ,the steel butt plate would surely add towards making the experience unforgettable for any one who shoots it.Please add me to the list of people willing to help you shoot the 'thing'

Re: big bore gun
I have been looking for one for years.
Are you interested in disposing off it? If so where abouts are you located?

John S.
What make is your 4 and what details can you give on its restoration?

Cartridges for 4 Bore shotgun are still available in England. When I last heard about it a couple of years ago sitting in the London Gunroom of H & H, an H & H employee mentioned it costs about GBP 28 each to fire one of these!
And of course it needs a very strong built man to handle and fire that brute.
What you have seems to be a 4 Bore rifle, the kind Sir Samuel Baker and other African pioneers weilded. I am not sure if Ammo for this is still available. What are the distances written on the leaf sights ?
