Donate Old Knives / Sharp Edged Objects

Post by Olly » Sat May 31, 2008 7:08 pm

Guys, as you would know by now, I have had a childhood passion to collect knives and any other sharp edged objects like arrows, blades, axes etc. Lately, I have realised that I could possibly enter the Limca Book of Records with over a hundred such objects already with me....

I appeal to anyone who has such objects and does not want them - old or new... infact, older the better... to donate them to me to add to my collection. The objects will never be sold and there will be no involvement of money. The donors name will be etched on the object and kept with due reverence. It can also be taken back at any time, if required.

Please take this appeal in right earnest ! Thanks

I've always dreamt of collecting Guns but have been put off by the prohibitive costs of owning even one.. Now why did'nt I think of this!! "Please donate all/any firearms" for my private collection! :D

+1

I like the idea very very much! Donate all blued metal objects here... ;) the ones that can discharge projectiles I will keep the others will be packed away nicely after etching the donors name onto them - don't want to ruin the projectile shooters by doing that

Great inspiring notations there....

Mack The Knife,
There doesn't seem to be any record at all presently... so I cud always be the first one if only Nagarifle and Jonah don't beat me to it.. :)

Jonah,
Yes, very much interested indeed... :P

Abhijeet,
Smells of a good deal... all pea shooters to you and all the cutting steel to me ??

Then why do you need more for the record?

Mind you, the private collections from erstwhile royal collections would be in the hundreds, if not thousands. So the Limca Record, if you should apply for one, would be a bit of a joke.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but I personally had well over three hundred knives until they were stolen in transit from Bombay to Bangalore.

Keep collecting but do not engrave names on the knives because it would devalue some very good knives. A pictorial record of who has given you what should suffice.

Well, I ain't collecting for any record or stuff... its just my passion due to which I have been collecting since I was 5 years old... ! On the way if any record falls into my lap, I don't mind it either... Its just a great personal feeling to have different types of sharp objects... many (including my own family members) don't understand it though... :D

You also had 300 knives ! Wonder if you had a passion too or was it to break some record ?? Its a great source of inspiration to me anyways... :)

Nagarifle,
My profile has come out in Times of India, Outlook, BTW and NDTV. You cud've seen me there...

I have always liked knives but public recognition of the fact isn't important to me.

Mack The Knife,
Public recognition isn't important for me either... but somehow it stops by to say hello with a pat on the back, once a while..... which is encouraging.... :)

Nagarifle,
