Congrats on the new stuff.
Hope you are using good pellets. With what consistency you have I don think the trigger is actually doing you much harm... you will soon get used to it

hi.. had no access to net 4 last 3 days ,. tried at 30 mts with g smith ameture pellets, grouping went up to 4" . found out that the barrel has a little play with the cylinder ,there is a space for a thin washer in that area. i think this is the cause for inaccuracy. g smith pellets were very tight in the breech, but easly taking local pellets. gunsmith told that new batches of ihp is with synthetic seals, is it so? has any body stripped recent batches of ihp?.TenX";p="43916 wrote: Congrats on the new stuff.

Hi
Sorry to hear about the 'gap' between the barrel and cylinder.
As long as no air is escaping, there should not be a problem. Just ensure that you always lock the barrel all the way up. This should help solve your accuracy.
The first indication for air leakage is a change in sound and a drop in power (Pellet shoots a few inches below).
I am not sure if IHP send synthetic washers now. The last time I visited IHP factory, they were still using the older washers.
However, I sourced a synthetic tube that is used in photocopying industry and very cheap too. I got like half a feet for 10 rupees. I cut required thickness of this tube and fix them using super-glue. I get a very tigt fit between the barrel/cylinder, as well as the pellet itself. The tube has some inner grooves too, which make it perfect for the pellets to be placed pretty accurately.
The next time I visit these guys from whom I got the synthetic tube, I will try to source a part number so others can buy.
In the mean time, can you try (not suggested, actually):
1. Having two washers in place of one, so that the fit is nice and tight.
2. Alternatives for the washer, like LPG cyliner tube, etc.
I would suggest you do this with someone experienced, and ensure that there is no air gap between the barrel and cylinder.

Re: Improvement in accuracy in National 25 airrifle
It is certainly possible to fit a peep sight to any of the presently made models of IHP air rifles. In fact if you look top at the stock just to the rear of the action
(the flat portion) you will see a small area that has been patched and polished.
This is where the spring column of the peep sight is to go. The stocks are made on computer controlled machinery which had been programmed in Germany for the Diana stocks and it does not seem possible to re-program them easily. So the machines drill the hole like- it- or- not.
The Calcutta made peep sights are quite crudely made, but are anyway better than the best open sights. When getting one be sure it is adjustable in both windage as well as elevation. Some have this facility, while others are adjustable in either windage or elevation not both.
Most gun shops would have them
.Cheers

Re: Improvement in accuracy in National 25 airrifle
Interesting.
When I visited the IHP factory in Ahmedabad with Mr. Pakheeja and Dr. Shirsat, I was shown two varieties of stock. One with an extended stock (Cheek rest area), and an other of the older type. What I was told is that the one with the elevated cheek rest does not have enough spacing behind the spring hold to add the peep-sight, and was therefore no available with peep-sight. The older ones without the elevated cheek rest had enough area to fix the peep-sight.
After some brooding, I picked up the one with the elevated cheek rest because that was what made my position sturdier.

Re: Improvement in accuracy in National 25 airrifle
IMHO recoil and springers go hand in hand. i'm not sure if you can eliminate it completely, or at all. maybe a heavier stock might absorb some of it. best option would be to get used to shooting along it, so to speak. once you get used to it, it should not be affecting your accuracy at all.eager";p="43308 wrote:1. Hi Ronish,
Congrats on the new IHP.
Its true the latest IHPs come with synthetic seals.
You might want to try Gsmith Competition pellets for better groupings. They work for me and are not tight fits. Also watch out for your stance and holding in case its adding to the inaccuracy problem.
