greetings from pittsburgh!

Post by nunca433 » Mon May 05, 2008 6:03 am

hi, my name is ankur mehta, i was born and have lived in the united states all of my life. my parents came here from india. i'm an avid firearms collector with a variety of interesting guns.
what brought me here was a search for indian-made guns that i'd like to collect at some point in the future. this was sparked because there's been a recent surge of ishapore enfield 2A rifles at most american dealers. they are rather affordable and an interesting relic of india's past.
also, i'm familiar with india's ak-variant "insas," which i will also be looking out for.
i'd be much obliged if i could get some input on other indian-made firearms.
thanks!

You want more gun control? Use both hands!

you can get a copy at any of the book stores which sell copies of acts and regulations of india.....although it was meant as a joke as the act is still continuing with its feudal past

Welcome Ankur,

Hope you have a good time here.

As regards Indian Guns and the laws concerning them...on thing you'll encounter more often than not is frustration... you know... when the silly babus run the show....

Perhaps you already know better- I believe a US importer also had IOF 9mm Pistol1A (Basically a crappy piracy of the Canadian Inglis HP)

As of now I don't believe the INSAS is available for non governmental sales. The moth-eaten factories can barely supply enough (forget quality) in a timely manner for the armed forces...the armed forces are not exactly happy with the thing and there are dark mutterings of replacements...yet the IOFB is happily offering them for exports...Nepal being an unfortunate recipient....etc. But do keep checking back.... you never know the mind of the silly babu...

regards,
cc
