TOKAREV PISTOL .30 CALIBER (7.62MM)
Mr.Fedor V. Tokarev,Ph.D. (1871-1968) a soviet Russian fire-arm engineer who designed & developed the TT-33 , and a reciever of USSR state award in 1940,the TT (Tula-Tokarev, or Tulskiy Tokarev, i.e. Tokarev from Tula, a Russian town which is famous for its weapon manufacturing plants, known in the US as "Soviet Tula") Tokarev pistols were the basic hand gun for the soviet army during WW-II.The Tokarev developed by fedor in 1930 was later improved with a new locking system & a disconnector. It bears a resemblance to the 1903 colt .380 pocket auto pistol & disassembles about the same way of a colt 1911. The ammo 7.62x25, is a direct copy of the .30 caliber Mauser ammo (7.63mm) a bottle neck ammo with high pressure & good penetrating power.Since loaded to high pressure the pistol is single action & recoil operated of the Browning design. The barrel & slide are temporarily locked together for a fraction of an inch during rear-ward travel (With the help of the locking lugs all over the barrel) This allows the bullet to exit the barrel & reduce pressure before the empty casing is ejected. Most of the parts of this pistol is interchangeable.
The soviet later exported this pistols to the fellow-communist countries after the WW-II. and these communist countries later produced the straight forward copies as :-
(1) NORTH KOREA - type-68- cal-7.62mm in (1969) & M68
(2) YUGOSLAVIA - M57 ----cal-7.62mm (1957) & M65 & M70 --cal(32ACP & .380ACP) & M88-9mm (1988)
(3) HUNGURY- - model-TOKAGYPT-9mm specially for Egyptian Army in (1958)
(4) CHINA --type-51 & type-54 & M-20 &TU-90.
(5) VIETNAM--mod-as- vietcong
(6) POLAND ----& ROMANIA also copied the model TT33
TT-33 SPECIFICATIONS
(A) WEIGHT-----840 TO 900 g
(B) LENGTH-----196 TO 200 mm
(C) BARREL-----116 mm
(D) ACTION-----SINGLE ACTION, RECOIL ACTUATED,
(E) FEEDS -----8 ROUNDS MAG.
(F) MUZZLE VELOCITY--420 M/S
(G) AMMOS----7.62X25 mm (7.63 mm) .30 CALIBER
(H) SIGHTS---(FRONT) BLADE , (REAR) - NOTCH.
Till today I have no idea regarding the CZECK producing the copy of Tokarev pistols ???in any caliber.
But the pistol has become very popular now in the west since the ammo is cheap and the NORINCO of china is exporting a large numbers of Tokarev pistols. The pistols are also modified with wrap-around-grips as the original plastic grips provided by the manufacturer are of very poor quality & few countries/ gunsmiths also modify the pistols with extra safety, & barrel bush etc...

The TT 33 is an extremely reliable and robust hand gun, packs a lot of punch.Ammo available is only imported
but easily available.
.30 Cal variants are the most popular NSP hand guns that are issued to the officers from the forces by the COD,Jabalpur.
IIRC there is a member on IFG who owns one,he did post pictures but cant place him.

There are far too many .30 hand guns floating around to make them a PB,besides it is not used by any of the armed or para military forces so dont see why it would be added to the PB list. The .30 Cal is a better option for self defense, your friend must have paid quite a bit for the Llama.paragvns";p="43351 wrote:One of my friends has recently disposed off his tt as there are rumors that .30 caal may become PB in the near future.BTW he's got a NIB .32 cal lama

Sanjay ,as you explained

One of the dealer is selling TT 30 cal which as per his story is purchased from Some Army guy from Jabalpur ,he has his allotment document , the dealer is asking for 6 L , as per his knowledge 30 caliber can be sold legally only by Army guys and needs proper documentry proof.
Any idea about the processes.
Regards,
James..

It's a nice pistol to own,the ammo has considerable stopping power, but it does suffer from one major defect;the pistol jams in very cold temperatures, even when oiled with low temp. lubricants,I can tell you this from personal experience. To combat this the Russians developed the "BALTIETS"pistol which was closely modelled on the Walther PP,but unfortunately never went beyond the prototype phase thanks to WW2!

I asked one of the ex workers of the Tula factory and he told me that there are 2 versions of the TT made by the then Soviet Union:TT30 in which the slide is marginally shorter, and the locking lugs are as in the Colt 1911,in the TT33 to simplify manufacture the locking lugs are in the form of rings around the barrel, this did away with a more complicated milling process but not changing the mechanism.Another change was that the entire lock mechanism in the TT33 can be easily removed for maintenance, and last difference is that the TT33 is heavier than the TT30.
