In search of an air rifle (Part 2)........
Hi geeks , this is rosario again, my stint for searching for an airrifle continues still. today i had been to a aromoury here in chennai. the sales women showed me an IHP 35 .22 cal and said the pricing was Rs 5000. i thought the pricing is too high since i see people posting the price to be around Rs3300 here in the threads. when i asked the women regarding this she said that IHP had stopped manufacturing air rifles for sometimes and they had started again and all the new guns thats being manufactured are having so many problems so their is a high demand for guns which were made before. she said she has only 2 nos available in that too. she is expecting some clients from bangalore for the same...
1) should i buy it for the same price of Rs 5000 ?
2) is really new IHP rifles having any problem ?
3) is their any other way or dealer in chennai where i could buy the same ?
i would appreciate any feed backs on the same since i wanted to buy one ASAP. Thanks in advance in anticipation of your replies from our geeks.
thanks
Rosario.

Re: In search of an air rifle (Part 2)........
In delhi, the IHP rifles are avialable by the plenty in the range of Rs. 3400 - Rs.4000. They are available even at sport shops! I think you could stick to IHP, but look for one at a better price. If you want there are also a few old Dianas available on this site for Rs.13000. In that context i think the gurus would be more helpful.rosariowinifred";p="42503 wrote:Thanks zafar,

Hi
I picked up a new .177 at IHP itself, when I visited Ahmedabad in Dec-Jan.
I had the privilage of 'benching' more than 25 guns before I found one that had very good grouping and also felt that the pellet speed was considerable consistent.
I dismantled it and had very little problem thru Deccan Air when I flew back.
I paid about 2700, billed at IHP, Ahmedabad. Presently, I have a small Rotary Tool which I am using to carve some designs on the stock.
I called up one gun shop in Bangalore and they quoted 3700 rupees. If you have someone to mail it to you or bring it to you from Bangalore, it may work out cheaper.
Also, during my visit, I was 'advised' that the .177 rifles perform and last better than the .22s. I dont know why, but I took the advise and got a .177.
I would advise you the same.
Matter of fact, I now have a HW77K, and dont use the IHP at all. I guess I should have done less than 25 shots on the IHP and would have gladly sold the same if I had not done anything to the stock.
I think you may also be able to order from IHP itself. Worth a try. If you do, I suggest you get yourself a couple of spare washers and a spring from IHP alongwith the rifle.

Re: In search of an air rifle (Part 2)........
The search for an starter airrifle ended for good. after going thru plenty of confusions on where to buy once after deciding to go for IHP. i ended up with a seller in kolkatta. joy biswas(aimco enterprises). the seller looked soo helpfull all thru the transaction. including shipping charing and packaging i got the gun for 3,900 all inclusive.
The gun was sooo nicely packed with wooden box. also the seller had given 100 pellets from aimco free with it. also me ordered master shot 500 pellets for 90Rs.
Finally abt the gun. it looked in excellent condition. pretty accurate and the stock was pretty good. ( trying to speak like an gun guru)
. but here i found an difference. the gun doesnt come with a peep sight ( IHP MODEL 35 .22 CAL). i heard nowadays they not providing an peep sight.
vote of thanks to all the members of IFG who guided me to get the best gun.(through diff threads it gave me an knowledge of what airrifles are all about
) special thanks to tirtha, zafar, and sniper.
About the seller i would give an 5 star to him. he was sooo good and willing to help all thur the trasaction.
now a few words abt..... an armory in chennai......
after buying the gun. i was just curious to buy different kind of pellets for it. and i landed up in tamilnadu armoury the guy had GSMITH pellets. i bought an 200 nos .22 cal pellets for Rs220. i wasnt sure about the pricing. i felt it to be a lill costly but i wasnt able to resist myself. also i asked him for an cleaning rod of phorgun which he quoted Rs450. i found it to be too expensive. he has marked the MRP prcing with black sketch so it wasnt visible.
once again i would like thanks a lot for everyones support.
Happy shooting
