Anti gun Auntyjis are anti cartoon also

Post by mehulkamdar » Wed Oct 04, 2006 9:01 am

I have heard that the Indian counterpart of IANSA is also planning a campaign against Tom and Jerry cartoons because they feel that theya re too violent and that they deserve to be designated "Adults Only." What next? An anti obscenity campaign against Tom and Jerry because they are naked?

These people are pathetic!

Are you serious!! What next? A ban on Loony Tunes as Mr. Fudd keeps chasing Bugs Bunny with a shotgun?

Cheers!

My mind fails me. I can't even react to such stupidity. Not everyone out of mental asylums is sane.Pathetic is the only word.

Abhijeet,

Well, I am not sure whether to laugh or scratch my head about these people but both CNN and Fix (the parent company of Star News) mentioned this on the news yesterday. The Auntyji delegation even met President Kalam and handed him a petition calling for the TNT cartoon network to be restricted. Since both Star and CNN-HBO have their catoon shows on one or another of their channels, both were unhappy with this turn of events.

Dev,

A death sentence on cartoons is what these women want. I wonder what their grandchildren watch at home?

Vikram,

Very, very true. There is no shortage of nut cases in the world. As the old Urdu saying goes, "Iss duniya mein bewakoofon ki kami nahin hai Ghalib, ek dhoondo to dus hazar milte hain." For our friends who don;t understand Hindi/Urdu this says that there is no shortage of fools in the world. If you were to go looking for one, you might end up finding ten thousand instead.

Sounds very apt for this scenario, Vikram!
What next, we buy our kids barbee dolls and crochet sets?
Are they planning to do anything about the sas /bahu gibberish soaps , which only , in my biased opinion, helps to foment internicine quibbles and also dowry deaths?
And the pelvic thrusts of the barely dressed up divas?
We might as well start porn TV officially, at this rate...
I am too flabbergasted to think of a life without cartoons on tv-after hours/days of yellow journalistic gibberish, which passes of for the Pulitzer or TV equivalent!!
T&J have been my comfort from child hood, hopefully into senility-If I make it

That`s not the first time that protesters have tried to get cartoons banned on the grounds that they are too violent. Same sort of people want to ban toy guns for kids......and no doubt are the same types that are against competitive sports in schools.
It doesn`t occur to them that left to their own devices lttle boys will pick up a stick and go `bang, bang` with it. Or that girls naturally gravitate towards dolls. Or that competition is a necessary aspect of life and that by denying competitive sports they are denying life training to kids.
Some aspects of the `nanny` State - such as the mandatory use of seatbelts - make sense but much is ridiculous. Those same people would want everyone to drive cars that will not exceed 10 miles per hour, are made of bubble wrap and run on fart power. Not too much farting mind - that would introduce much too much in the way of greenhouse gases. So you would be denied gassing yourself up by the use of lager ( they`d ban that as well - alcohol is dangerous ! )
Makes me bloody sick.
I wouldn`t be surprised if I get yellow carded for this post so if I`ve offended anyone I apologise.

Oh boy, I sincerely never believed that anyone was sooooooooooooo far out! Well there goes another fine theory straight out of the window.

But it makes me think, if the president will grant audience to such asylum escapees ( is that a real word?), will he grant us one?
