u have imported .177 stufs through courier if u have tried tnt courier pls input ur feed back abt the custum clearence myth

IIRC Loyd had mentioned in his post sometime back about issues with TNT courier. They had objections with sending air rifles. My two cents - get a Rifle club membership and get a .177 couriered or sent across to you by normal mail. It'll take just a day to get it released and trust me it's worth it. Considering the amount you'll end up saving

I have never imported an air-rifle/pistol via post or courier. Everything you need to know is already mentioned in previous posts.

If the airgun is couriered, the courier will clear it from customs for you and deliver it to your door. You pay the duty to the delivery man.

If the airgun is sent by post, you will be sent a Show Cause Notice from the postal customs department. You will need to meet the concerned person (mentioned in the show cause notice) within the given period. If he/she is satisfied with the documents brought by you, you will be asked to pay the duty and the airgun will then be handed over to you.

Academically speaking - a .177 may make lower energy than a .22 cal, BUT it does tend to give more penetration.

Not quite. At least not in this case.

Air Force offers a metered air cylinder that has a valve limiter fitted. This is to ensure that the shooter gets maximum number of consistent velocity shots from one fill. It also keeps the velocity down.

If he orders the Condor with the metered tank, there should be no power related issues. It will penetrate, only just as much as any other air rifle. Plus he always has the option to upgrade if the need be.

The talon in stock makes ~1000fps in .177 with the regular valve/tank. Thats ~600fps less than the condor in .177. With the limited valve, the velocities will be in the 700-800 range if I'm not wrong. Thats a lot of shots with one fill. And the power will be adequate too.

Technically, all airforce guns can be upgraded to the condor with the right parts. The talon SS + 24" barrel + Hi Flo valve + Trigger assembly = Condor. So going for the talon will be the smart thing to do.

But the issue most likely will be with the looks. Even without the bells and whistles, it still retains the tactical look.

@mundaire: Its called the Air Force Micro Meter tank.. Gives approximately 300 shots per fill. Thats a lot!!!

Hi Sayyad,

I need to warn you about any airforce rifle. They are very crude and have lots of o-ring problems. They have very heavy triggers. Here in states when people buy them they send them immediately to Talontunes.com. Otherwise they don't shoot well. However after Tony does the tuning they become excellent shooters. But the cost can be xtra $500-$600. If you wan't my advice, you are better of buying a Carrer 707 III which is known for it's power, reliability and accuracy, right out of the box. Edited.

Thanks for this nugget of Information. I am currently in US for studies and am planning to get an air-rifle for my DAD. I was not decided wether to bring a PCP or not. NOW i might hae to remember this before ordering a air-gun.

Hey..
I was looking to import an airgun the higher the velocity the better. had a few models in mind,

1. Diana RWS 350 Magnum
2. Diana RWS 460 Magnum
3. Walther Talon Magnum

I do not want a match rifle. Could you please help me in choosing a rifle that is powerful yet accurate.
Since an uncle of mine will be getting it from munich germany i will prefer one that is readily available there.

Are there any restricitons with customs on the velocity of the gun?

Any help will do!!

I am little confused regarding the Import Policy of Airguns.
There seem to be 2 options:

1) Bring via Personal Baggage

2) Import via Courier

My question:

Is a License is required for both Options or only Option 2?

No "license" is required in either case. However, option 2 is only available to those who are current members of govt. recognised rifle associations/ shooting clubs.
