Most revolvers don't have a safety... personally considering the heavy trigger pull on a double action revolver, and the inherent safety of the revolver design, it's intended use as a last line of defence - IMHO a safety catch on a DA revolver is quite irrelevant and in fact can be a hindrance... A trigger actuated hammer block is a nice feature to have though...

While Indian ammo is not consistent in terms of case dimensions and other aspects, it would NOT under normal circumstances cause damage to your handgun.

You may have the occasional empty case getting stuck in the cylinder, maybe a misfire or two and you would have to be doubly careful while cleaning the gun (after use) as IOF ammo still uses corrosive primers... due to these reasons, some people exclusively use imported ammo in their guns (despite the cost) BUT IOF ammo is SAFE (though not the best) to use...

...and don't believe everything your gunsmith tells you...

hi i had a chance to test fire a .32 Arminius and i tried a couple of shots at 45 degree and 90 degree angles and it did fire !!

TRANSFER BAR SAFETY

Does the .32 , 7 shot, Arminius HW3 , purchased 1975, have transfer bar safety, which prevents the gun from firing when dropped ?

Grumps, Badshah , Experts, can you help me out with this?

One of the models of these revolvers have a problem with the transfer bar safety leading to the possibility of accidental discharge.Will post the link to a warning on this which I read some time back,when I find it again

I am attaching a part of my communication with the man with a vast sea of knowledge known as "GRUMPY" on this forum...........

Both the AFTE and Virginia Departent of Forensic Science issued a safety warning in 1993 concerning the HW3:


ARMINIUS
MODEL HW3,
32 SMITH & WESSON CALIBER, REVOLVER

Warning: The Arminius, 32 Smith & Wesson caliber, model HW 3, revolver has the potential for UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE. The firing pin may protrude through the breech face. Revolvers of this model were found to lack a firing pin spring. Additionally, a device that, in theory, should serve the purpose of a hammerblock did not function as such consistently.

So, in answer to your question, the HW3 DOES have a hammerblock ( Not a `trigger` block which would prevent the gun from being fired altogether ! ) but the device does not work consistently.

In other words, to be safe you would have to drop the hammer on an empty chamber............So you would have a six-shooter instead of a seven-shooter !

You might like to post the above notice on IFG considering its significance.
