hi bobby72
check out the airgun section as this type of question was much sought after, only last month or so. what was discussed was that hard case for the air rifle, check with usa airport staff, on arrivel duty of 35% to the gents in white, again depending where in India u are arriveing the coustoms may detain the air rifle to verfy with police. keeping ones cool at all time is most important at this stage. any way check out the air gun section in the forum. also keep recipts/bills etc, may help to have the airrifle verfied by usa police/customs people and get paperworks for that.

Hi kanwal
i have not come acorss as to the limit of air rifle one can import, why not check out NRAI or the air rifle/ forum. from what i can gether since import of air rifle is allowed at 35% duty, so any one, even non members of NRAI can import.
i am sure others can quilify this, i serched out the threads in the air rifle section and found lots of info of members experince. so check it out for yourself.

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
i believe we had an earlier discussion on this issue, when the opinion was only one gun in a single shipment. i think it was because the wording in the rule mentiong personal use for the airgun, something which is hard to explain when a cartonful of 77ks turn up at your doorstepkanwal";p="32649 wrote: If some one is a LIFE MEMBER of DSRA & NRAI, how many air guns can he import in a single shipment ??

An interesting point all the same... hypothetically speaking if (lets say) 5 shooting club members got together to import their FIVE air-rifles/ pistols in ONE shipment... so as to save on shipping costs... how would that shipment be treated? Theoretically since each gun is for ONE specific individual, it would be all above board... wonder how the postal customs chaps would react though...

Re: Airgun import experiences - via post/ courier route
interesting indeed. if the bill of each airgun is made out in the name of each member, there would be five owners/purchasers for five airguns. if the postal address is regarded as the club office, then the impression of somebody trying to pull a fast one might be averted. specially since , even with reduced shipping charges, the import duty is charged individually, on the basis of airgun price and fractionated shipping charge.
however, this is logic. since when have babus behaved logically?

Babus behave with Logic ? Impossible.
The rot that has taken place in Indian society.
Hunting and SHooting sports is barbaric and aristocratic sports.
Licenced weapons are used to opress the poor.
Air GUn is a fire arm that requires a licence.
It is illegal to possess air guns, they are banned.
.22 is a rifle, it cannot be an airgun.
Shooting sports is nonsence.
First our Babus need a brainwash session to get these deep routed misconceptions out of their rare brains, only then can they see any reason.
