I bought a new gun. IOF 3006
Introduction:
First of all, please excuse my broken English, it is not my first language. I have always been a big fan of 3006 gun, mostly because of its history and proven actions in the past. I read about it, I watch the videos about it, I ponder about, dream about having it.
Why 3006 in India in this era?
One might argue why having 3006 is not viable in India with the higher cost of ammo, while we have an equally good choice with .22LR, with cheaper ammo. I agree the ammo is expensive but upon careful consideration, I don't think I will ever shoot more than twenty(20) bullets in a year, which I think is manageable money wise. And like I said having 3006 is always a dream for me.
The chase:
I looked the yellow pages and read (again and again ) most threads on the forum regarding 3006, I even contacted Vineet sir on WhatsApp, whose number is available on yellow pages but no answer. I then asked all the local dealers in their offer, price ranges and model. I finally landed a deal on the second day, then and there my dream came true on 22nd February, 2025.
The gun:
The gun was of 2023 model, it came with two sets of magazines that holds five (5) ammo each, Picatinny rail with 11mm was fitted and included, the dealer gifted me a gun case as well. I have been holding it, caressing it whenever I have time, at night, morning and in the evening.
I have not shot a single bullet yet, I can not say about the grouping, whether good or bad. I will love it either way. I am happy just for the sake of having it, and I am happy to share my story with fellow IFG-ians about my experience.
Thank you.

Congrats. I recently tried this model and its a powerful and accurate gun. If you fit it with good optics you can easily fire accurately at 400 to 500 meters.

Thank you, @dev and @kps_dhillion.
I have brand new T-Eagle 6-24 x 50 FFP IR MRAD ZS, with 30 mm tube. It is marked as shock proof, but I am not sure if it will hold against the recoil. I have not even mount it on the gun yet. I am eyeing on another scope if God's willing.

That is great, Able! There's nothing like getting the new gun that you've wanted. Now you can enjoy shooting it, having it, and holding it. It's a great feeling, congratulations!

Congrats on a nice bit of kit.
Theres a seminal article here by Shooter50 about how he tweaked the .30-06 IOF. Have a read if you havent already. May be of help.

Thank you for your kind words @Vikram, @timmy, and @eljefe
Modified IOF is one of my most valued threads in the forum, but I am afraid I don't have the skills, and courage to do what he did.

New skill should be learned with fervour and gusto. Baby steps, training wheels etc. we were all at that stage and learning is lifelong.

Congratulations Able on your wonderful purchase. Thank you Able and Eljefe for those kind words. I am presently again engaged in some professional work so don't have time for Gunsmithing but I can sure help you if you wish to tweak that rifle.

It should work fine as long as the mounts are good and don't let the scope move during recoil. My friend has a Leapers scope on his, and it is still holding its zero after twenty or so shots (usual license and ammo quota restrictions).

Congrats Able, Lovely rifle. I always liked the IOF rifles. I have handled an IOF .315 but never got an opportunity to handle one in 06. I am sure it is an awesome rifle, Enjoy!.
