Licence Renewal for 75 years old.

Post by sandzz72 » Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:11 pm

My uncle who has had an Arms Licence for the past 50 years will be turning 75 next year April. When he renewed his Licence last time from Collector Palghar(Maha) it seems they added a remark that this is the last time that the Licence will be renewed. Is this a legal rule under Arms act or just a whim of the Collector office. If not a rule under Arms act what are his options to get his Licence renewed as he is hale, hearty and fit? He needs his weapons as he stays alone in his orchard in rural Maharashtra. Any input by legal /knowledgeable friends will be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

hi,
if your uncle is physically and mentally fit,no one can deny the renewal.
there is no such age bar/ limit for license renewal.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no legal basis for not renewing simply because of the age of the licence holder though it is done across the country. It can be challenged of one has the determination. Good luck.

as per arms act 70 years is upper cut off age for arms renewal and also 25 years for total length. this is guideline but authority has right to take their decision.

you can read this in arms act book.

mostly in all states they are telling either verbally or putting remark on booklet at age 70 for this.

they said this to my uncle too at 70 age but gave a 5 yr renewal on request in delhi .
