A handy 22

Post by herb » Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:49 pm

Sharing some pics of my Rem .22 made in the early 1900's. A nice handy little rifle that can be easily thrown into the backpack when camping/ trekking. My 100+ year old .470 NE is also included in the first pic to get an idea of the size.

Simple to taken down in the field and put together again without any tools.

This gun is chambered for .22 short, long & LR. Easier to carry shorts if space/weight is an issue, plenty enough to knock down a grouse for supper.

A pump 22 is so much fun to use when out plinking at rocks, cans, or other common targets in the field. They have a very natural and pleasing feel to them.

Remington has been making pump 22s for a very long time and these old ones are not only pleasing to the hands, but also to the eye.

Your example here, Herb, is in great shape and looks like it is ready for another century of enjoyable shooting!

Thanks for sharing!

Herb,

Nice little rifle there. Very handy and usable.

On a side note, do tell us about the .470NE in a different thread. Thanks in advance.

Agree with you that .22's are a joy to own and shoot, especially the older ones that are so well made.

The .470 Nitro is a Charles Lancaster made around 1910. I will post more info and pictures in a separate thread as soon as I have some time.

Cheers!

Thank you for sharing these pics; both rifles are a joy to behold, and in very good condition for their age!!
I like the take-down action, very handy as you say; I am sure you enjoy using them.
