The Airgun Hunting Quarterly

Post by mundaire » Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:43 am

I'm sure some of you would already know about this, stumbled upon it myself today so thought I'd share it here for everyone's benefit. While the name may suggest that it would be of no use for those of us based in India, well there are plenty of general interest stories like one on calibre choice (volume 1), another on how to scope your airgun (volume 2), introducing youngsters to airgunning etc.

This e-zine (electronic magazine) is pretty new (only on it's third issue currently), but it seems to be a good quality publication with all contributing articles made by enthusiasts - and that's all they ask for, that you contribute articles (it's completely free).

Cheers!

Do you think hunting just for the sport of the kill should be banned? In other words those who hunt with no intention of consuming what they kill? Hunting for the fun of it.

To answer your original question, it's a personal ethic. I personally would not like to shoot/hunt unless they are going to be eaten by me or someone else or there is a pest control aspect or problem animal. However, sport hunting for hunting sake, if such hunting is legal where it is undertaken, helps in animal population control, better management of local flora and fauna, has positive implications for local bio-diversity,benefits local population directly or indirectly, must be encouraged.Look at African hunting scene.Check how many species are protected from extinction, forest land preserved and the local people benefited.A lot of the money comes from sport hunters.
