AIV under family heirloom
Hello dear members,
Would anyone throw some light on the subject whether AIV continues under family heirloom or is it considered a new license and one has to go through the whole process of applying for the same all over again?
Tried searching the arms rules 2016 but could not get any info about it.
Thank you,
Roland.

Re: AIV under family heirloom
There no mention of this specific issue in the Arms Rules. But since the heirloom license is like a new arms license, AIV would not be carried over unless you are in the armed forces or All India Services. The authorities would not apply the same justification of the original license holder for granting their heir an AIV license.I hope this reply helps. Regards

AIV is not restricted to Armed forces or All India Services. Anyone can get AIV as long as you are able to satisfy the authorities.

Area validity doesn’t continue under family heirloom.

Re: AIV under family heirloom
Yes of course anyone can get AIV license as long as the requirement is justified to the authorities. What I meant was that under the heirloom category, the heir would not be given the same AIV that the original license holder had on a new license unless the heir is in the Armed forces or AIS. Initially city/district/state validity would be granted and subsequently he can apply for AIV. But AF and AIS persons who if apply under heirloom ( very rare but happens) then their fresh license can be endorsed with AIV to start with.

Re: AIV under family heirloom
The AIV would not continue by default in heirloom or inheritance case. You will be granted local (district/city wide) validity and will have to separately later apply for area validity extension.
