Strange decision by Delhi Police

Post by Vineet » Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:32 pm

In almost all the states, NRAI members are allowed to keep 3rd weapon as .22 rifle but New Delhi has decided not to allow this. Quite strange

They might as well come up with a amendment that only 2 weapons per 1 KM as 1 weapon can easily defend people in a area of 500sqmt.

But on a serious note 2 weapons are more than enough for self defense if that is the true purpose.

The allowance of two weapons is enough for the person who only wants one or two weapons.

Why anyone would have to justify any number of weapons is the question that is pertinent here.

If a person is responsible and law-abiding, why does he have to give justification in some arbitrary process that's made up each time it is conducted?

Even for defensive purposes, 2 weapons may not be enough. A person may choose a small pocket pistol for concealed carry and a larger pistol for home defense. He may also keep a revolver as a back-up gun. He may keep another 22 pistol/revolver for economical target practice. He may keep a shot-gun for crop protection and defense against wild animals(in rural areas).

Well said. Two weapons are not enough as different self defence and home defence situations requires different weapons.

Rule 37 (includes Rule 37 (3) & (4) ) applies to Sport shooting association..

And the rule is same for individual and association as one (non-licensee) has to have a proper permission (from licensee) for carrying weapon.

I have viewed the video later, I agree with Awadesh ji.

And importantly, the notification says "on receipt of this direction". If you receive a direction from the concerned LA, then you have 15 days to deposit.

However, you can appeal the order in your state High Court about the contravention of this notification.
