There are plenty of hammer guns around here ( chez Grumpy ) but none of them are `dog-eared`........... Tatty hammers would have to be replaced.
The funny thing is, you know, that `cat-eared` would be more appropriate for something - usually books or magazines - that looks a little tatty as you don`t often see dogs with torn ears but old tom-cats usually have really ripped-up lugholes !

They are certainly dog eared/cat eared(as you please) here.I have even seen some hammer guns with one /both hammers missing/inoperative.Still they sell.

Maybe......but they don`t exactly work very well !
I`ve got one hammer gun with damascus barrels that continually rusts the outer surface of the barrels. It does it all by itself without any problems of external dampness. It`s to do with the browning process ( when the barrels were browned, just before I bought the gun ) not having been stopped properly. The barrels are going to have to be repolished and rebrowned. Am I pi**ed off ? YES !
