The Gun may be Available with Some one who is in love of good old days memories but the availability of the Ammo is Question. If you Travel to Abroad frequent and can bring ammo from there then I think the Search of this gun is viable.

I had .405 double rifle for sale last year. Sold to a customer in Uttarakhand. Lever action rifles are more common in this caliber. Cartridges are priced around Rs. 700 each.

.405 Cartridge is popular in the Winchester 1895 Rifle.
This Rifle was re-launched in America.
(I think 8/10 years back, maybe more)
They re-started manufacture of this Rifle,
To mark Teddy Roosevelt's Anniversary.
One dealer did want to sell me this rifle.
It is a lovely Rifle, no question.
The Leaver Action is beautiful.
Because of the re-introduction of the Winchester 1895,
Fresh Cartridges are available.
I have seen boxes of .405 ammunition with Dealers.
I am very sure the .405 Cartridge will be available in U.P.
Get hold of the owner of the shop which you frequent.
They are well connected and will organise for you.
U.P. used to be Heaven for Gun Lovers, don't know now.

Would also like to add that the .405 cartridges are not regularly imported like .30-06, 7mm, 8mm rifle cartridges. They were once imported some 6-7 years back. They are slowly drying up from the market.
