goodboy_mentor,
Just to clarify, is it possible to get a small arms manufacturing license? Other than Shotgun and Muzzle Loading Manufacturing?
If so, is there any document or list of Manufacturers, who have such a license?
Would be an interesting opportunity to explore.
Regards,
-P

This could be a game changer.mannlicher wrote:Had a chat with the bloke.Price starts at 125K for the raptor. readily available with a 15 day waiting.
Automatic plant , these fellows have apparently researched well, 14 round handgun similar to glock.
This whole thing seems unreal,.32 calibre semi auto in India privately manufactured, I cant believe it - get in quick and enjoy it while you can.
Kudos to sheikh!

In a word YES! If you take the time to read them, the Arms Rules 2016 deal mostly with this issue (almost half the pages of the rules are concerned with private manufacture), any company which meets the laid out criterion may apply for license for manufacture of small arms, ammunition, proof testing, etc.pistolero wrote:goodboy_mentor,

This is a BIG change over the previous policy wherein only licenses for manufacture of muzzle loaders and shotguns were being issued and that too fresh licenses were not being issued since the 1980's (except for inheritance cases).

.45 ACP is no longer a Prohibited bore as per the Arms rules 2016
Any Pistols (except 9mm Parabellum, 9x19mm/9mm Luger/9mm Parabellum Plus) is a Permissible arm so 45 is legal now

Here making a Handgun for .45 ACP or some other Cal which is uncommon except .22/.25/.32 etc has one more prob i.e availability of ammo at reasonable price.
whatever stock is available i.e @ a very high price most of the time.

Sheiekh Company have got permission to manufacture shotguns , muzzleloaderspistols and revolvers of 32 and 22 calibre from the looks it looks better than IOF guns but actual position will be known when someone will do firing practice but they have entered the weapon market in big way if state goverment gives clearance they may manufature 5000 or so pistols along with amno .My friend talked to himthey r highly professional and good to talk.

Quality can be gauged by the quality of shotgun/musket already manufactured by Sheiekh Co. .45 calibre since out of restricted list attracts demand & with ammo manufacturing also allowed in private, ammo availability should not be an issue.

Re: First Privately Manufactured Handgun in India? -Check it Out!
Very happy to see this. I am not at all worried about prices. Once private players start entering the market, it is only a matter of time that prices will start going down. Capitalistic system is very good at fixing prices through competitive nature of the market. As far as their selection of .32 acp calibre is concerned, I think manufacture wants customers to be able to source ammo easily and domestically.
