Re: Telescope on 315 bore rifle
There are no scope mount on the .315 rifle first of all find a scope mount first . When you get a scope mount take any rifle scope 3x to 9x magnification .

Sir as per my experience you have to make a custom scope mount ( I did for one case ) the charges ranges from 5 to 10k depending on the experience of gun Smith and his skill

15 k onwards are preferred as they are shock proof.

Re: Telescope on 315 bore rifle
Dear PSM,
The IOF .315 Sporting Rifle has a range of 275 meters, as mentioned by IOF website. It is a perfect weapon for self defence. So a Riflescope with 3x to 9x zoom is sufficient.
Sathvik is right about the Scope mount. There are two kinds of Scope Rail Mounts available, 11 mm rail and 20 mm rail.
I have IOF .30-06 Sporting Rifle. First I bought a Nikon P223 3x 32 mm fixed magnification Riflescope, it is a high quality scope, I bought it from amazon.in. Now I have ordered a Tasco World Class 3-9x 40mm variable magnification Riflescope, also from amazon.in. I can tell about its quality after I get it.
Research more before buying. This forum has many experienced shooters who can help you in this matter.
Good shooting!

Good scopes are not cheap, not necessarily expensive, especially when you need to import them. If you could give us a rough idea about your budget, it would be possible to suggest a few models. Meanwhile, do not fall for snake oil merchants trying to sell you their cheap imports.psm wrote:Dear all,

Re: Telescope on 315 bore rifle
There are some people who claim to have imported genuine scopes and offer them for sale through personal messages. Do not fall for them either. Sometimes there are scopes that come up for sale on this forum. Do check the classifieds. If you travel abroad, you can buy one and bring one with you. Again check the laws both ways.
As the poster above said, you will have to have the scope mounts installed. You do not need a very high magnification for a scope on your .315. Please go through older posts on this topic on this forum. There is a lot of information available.

Re: Telescope on 315 bore rifle
I’ve used this base to mount a 3-9x40 on my .303-25. Rock solid.
https://www.rpgfirearms.com.au/SCOPE%20MOUNTS.htm
Check our Mountain man Harish , if he can sell you a mount. The few vids I’ve seen of his, he seems to be a very keen chap with a good understanding of gunsmithing.
The problem with the .315 stock is , it is low and you’ll need to fit a cheek riser to get a good cheek rest.
A 3-9x40mm is the max I would go on this rifle, ideally a 2-7x32mm would be enough. And keep all shots within 200m. Those 244gr round nose projectiles were not meant to be 500m performers, but a hangover of the Austro-Hungarian Empire Service rifle of WW1 vintage. GL with your project

Re: Telescope on 315 bore rifle
I contacted Harish bhai for this. Due to current lockdown, he is stuck in his Uttarakhand residence. He does not have decent internet connection there. I told him to check this post.
His 22 mm rail Scope mounts are manufactured in Chandigarh. He told me that they are ready to be shipped.
Regards.
