MS Dhoni - Cricketer and firearms enthusiast

Post by mundaire » Tue Sep 26, 2017 4:59 pm

It seems our former India team captain, MS Dhoni, is a keen guns/ shooting enthusiast. There were earlier reports of how he lobbied for a PB pistol license and was subsequently issued a 9mm pistol by the state government. The below news article goes to show that his enthusiasm hasn't waned in the intervening years :)

“The great MS Dhoni takes some time off to practice his shooting skills at our state of the art shooting range this afternoon at Police Training School. His accuracy is breathtaking,” Kolkata Police posted on their Facebook page.

A top Kolkata police official said Dhoni not only shot in the range but inspired the Kolkata Police recruits with a pep-talk during his visit in the afternoon.

“It’s great to host Dhoni for the second time. He’s an extraordinary marksman and inspired us all,” the top Kolkata Police official, who accompanied MS Dhoni, told PTI.

“It’s a state of art shooting range at PTS and Dhoni shot both in the 10m and 25 ranges.”

Earlier in 2010, Dhoni, whose love for motorcycle is well-documented, had visited the city police headquarters Lalbazar looking for an old motorcycle.

India will take on Australia in the second ODI of the five-match series at the Edens Gardens tomorrow. India had defeated Australia by 26 runs in a rain-curtailed first ODI to take a 1-0 lead.

On the field or off the field, he's always cool! Had met operatives from 2nd Para SF who were his buddies during para jump. Although captain cool was excited before the jump as he had taken a short course on basics. So excitemnt and anxiety mixed up and they had to give him tablets to control it! Captain cools like shooting the Israeli beauty Tavor. It is the primary weapon of Para SF.

More power to Mr Dhoni. I do hope that he picks up competitive shooting once he retires from cricket. I think that would do a world of good to shooting sports in India.

Mr Dhoni can certainly change a lot of public perception on guns...
