Re: Govt allows duty free import of pellets finally
I got 8 tins of RWS Basic from Paris via Air France flight through the Delhi Customs without an issue. Though I am a club member but the customs people didn't even ask anything and my luggage was also not marked.

Re: Govt allows duty free import of pellets finally
I recently got H&N Crow Magnums .22 - 12 tins of 200s in my luggage. At the airport customs in India, the officer took me aside and said you can't import firearms more than 50. I convinced him that air rifle pellets are not firearms per se. Then he's like how many do you have. I sheepishly said 2400 and he looked rather shocked. Nevertheless, I think he trusted me and let me go. Usually I carry a few tins but what got their interest was the 12 tins stacked up. Saw it in the X-ray machine myself. Quite a sight
Cheers,
Adi

I’m also interested in understanding the implications of the same. The answer would help me further plan my return to India.airgunner123 wrote:will buying a single tin of .177 cal pellets from pyramidair be detained at customs? do we need to provide rifle club membership and DGFT documents for just one tin?please help...thank you

Re: Govt allows duty free import of pellets finally
I have personally bought in a few tins without being asked, although I had documents ready.
However, when ordering even one single tin over courier, necessary documents have to be in place. Nowadays, I see that courier companies DO NOT ask for documents unless the freight is on port. They want to delay the clearance and add demurrage charges.
Ideally, it is best to order a couple of tins at a time and constantly bother the courier company as soon as it is dispatched. Keep all docs ready including 'Authorization for clearance', 'Club Member proof', 'Address Proof', etc. Send it across to the courier guys. This will show them that you 'know the act', and they will probably clear it asap.
All the best

Please NOTE: as per current guidelines, unless one falls within the category of renowned shooter, GST is being charged in full on airgun and airgun pellet imports!
