Need to know about license
If one apply for an arms license for target shooting (sports), does he have to write down the caliber of the rifle he wants to buy on the form? eg: .22 lr, .315, 30.06 etc. Or will simply writing NBP rifle work? thanks

Recommend you indicate as NPB. In that case you have more options. Regards

You'll also have to mention the type of firearm, eg NPB rifle, NPB revolver/ pistol, NPB gun (for shotgun).

But then if he gets the license after completing his AR training and buys the 30.06 as his 1st rifle, can he use for practice it in the 50m range or will the club won't allow that since it is considered a big bore caliber?

ok thanks
Added in 2 hours 31 minutes 8 seconds:
When applying for an arms license should the applicant write "Sport" as his "NEED"? Or write "Target practice/shooting"?

Re: Need to know about license
Both would work, but different licensing authorities apply different criteria to determine need. For e.g. in Delhi they require prior participation in at least one zonal/ GVM before they will consider issuing a license under sports/ target shooting.

Re: Need to know about license
But are Sport/Target practice same thing or not? Because on the form they are different things. Another thing, Can the police refuse to give you an arms license even if your "NEED" is genuine and you do not have and criminal record?
