Will see how best the weight can be kept within reasonable limits while increasing its features. In any case it would still be lighter than our INSAS & SLRs that our jawans have to lug on route marches! On the positive side, you can use it as a battering ram/hockey stick...GNV wrote:Can't shoot well offhand with the Hurricane with its stupid stock. With a sporting stock it might do well for hefty people. I like ORION for offhand shooting.

But dear Main,
When I purchase a gun spending my money on it, I purchase it to shoot, Not to use it as a ram or hockey stick.

Take it to your farm, shoot some. When you run out of pellets (or the seal goes leaky like today), use it as a farming equipment!
I guess the AARMR guys believe in versatility.. So they made a multi-utility gun-cum-multi tool!
On a serious note I think with a competition-shooting style add-ons I think it would be an excellent platform that will easily last decades. Its durability with its power & accuracy potential is what attracted me in the first place!

the ES readings with the old parts make for very interesting observation. a single digit range ...with a variety of pellets ...and good accuracy at short ranges is promising.
the drop in in velocity and increase in ES with the new parts MAY suggest a bad fitting seal ( uneven / oversized ). it MAY NOT be a leak as the accuracy is holding , though over short distances.

I haven't seen the new seal myself, but as GNV sir says, it seems very loose. It was a fresh prototype, a new seal has been sent to him since then.mercury wrote:the ES readings with the old parts make for very interesting observation. a single digit range ...with a variety of pellets ...and good accuracy at short ranges is promising.

The power at muzzle is also good. Waiting for long range review now.
The newer variants also have a crown with choking reserved for the final production run. That should improve things further.
What's left is a trigger & competition-style butt-plate - cheek support attachments and I guess these guys should be good to hit the market with a final version.

I don't think choke is a good idea for a low powered spring piston powerplant

Dear Jatin,
The gun is already producing power in excess of 12fpe which IMHO is enuff to hit anything within 50ft range. However lack of consistency with the great Indian-made pellets can be a big issue for many of us! My intention is a smooth, powerful & consistent gun. Smoothness & reasonable power have been addressed, consistent pinpoint accuracy is the next target!
If you want to buy a without-choke wala gun & any other chota-mota changes like a 'loose' guide which would increase power but also the buzz.. just give me a holler, will ask the manufacturer to do the needful. Just don't ask for a wooden stock!

Trigger too is pretty inconsistent. Only about 40% of the time I can feel the 1st and 2nd stages. Rest of the time it is single stage and unpredictable.

From whatever experience i have shooting air rifles, the trigger is one of the most crucial factors that influence the accuracy in PCPs and even more so in springers. No matter how good the other internals may be, with an inconsistent and unpredictable trigger, accuracy is going to go for a toss. For me personally, any air rifle with a bad trigger, sucks. I will most probably prefer not shooting such an air rifle since it will only have a detrimental effect on the trigger fingers muscle memoryGNV wrote:Trigger too is pretty inconsistent. by design its a single stage trigger, the couple of adjustment screws do next to nothing.GNV wrote:Trigger too is pretty inconsistent. Only about 40% of the time I can feel the 1st and 2nd stages. Rest of the time it is single stage and unpredictable.

Wah! I would like to try it out some time if you dont mind.
I am rather keen on seeing the accuracy and performance of this air rifle first hand. Want to know if it can impress me more than i already am

Re: AARMR Hurricane Model 15. First Impressions. Picture Heavy
Yes by 2nd stage I mean the final definite resistance which breaks the trigger after the initial travel.
The current trigger design is below.
In the current design Trigger stop screw and Trigger engagement screw are more or less ornamental. Trigger stop screw if tightened to far would stop the trigger from breaking thats all and it has no effect on the trigger functioning. Trigger engagement screw also has no effect except preventing the lower sear from engaging the middle sear when cocked if set too much forward. The trigger weight screw is self explanatory. But its working is very sloppy due to the poor spring quality, bad size and no guide on the lower sear to keep the spring in place. In practice it bends and making the trigger bad.
I think the following modifications would improve the trigger. I request experienced members to give their opinions.
Here I think the movement of the short Pin spring plunger determine the second stage.
By first stage adjustment I mean the amount of travel of the lower sear towards back when cocked and when the trigger is pulled the amount of travel before the sear touches the pin/ball of the short travel spring plunger.
The long pin spring plunger to adjust trigger weight would have more movement than the short pin plunger. I think the movement of the pin/ball in the short plunger equals the second stage.
Please comment whether this arrangement would work.

But I think the bottom sear would not return to its original full cocked position if we release the trigger before the final pull but stays at whatever position we remove the pressure on the trigger.
