The Mateba auto revolver and Chiappa Rhino have the same designer.

I've looked for a Mateba but they don't come up much in the US and they are spendy.

Is there any advantage the design of these revolvers have as compared to conventional ones?

Most revolvers have a relatively heavy and long double action pull to rotate the cylinder, and cock and release the hammer. By cocking the hammer manually, you generally have a very short and light trigger pull (for S&Ws 1.5-3.5 lbs SA is common), but you sacrifice speed in shooting. The Mateba works by using recoil energy to cock the hammer every shot using a sliding block - not unlike a typical semi-auto pistol.

They are picky about ammo and really just cool toys, but I like cool toys.

The only trait the Rhino shares is the bottom barrel which in theory lowers the bore axis which should enhance control and reduce felt recoil.
