Dear Kshitij,
GNV Garu is a 'veteran'..! He knows what he is doing.. Yeah! You need to have a NPB weapons license if you're bringing in firearms but that isn't an impossible thing is it?! The point I wanted to make was that it isn't entirely as impossible as people think it is..
It would be great if you could offer us your wisdom on the subject. Have set my eyes on the Walther gun myself..!
Any loopholes in my "import barrels separately" method??!
Point wise:
I never questioned if GNV is a veteran or not and wether if he knows what he is doing or not. Infact I appriciate his contributions on the forum, especially this thread. So dont confuse me pointing out your vague statement with my opinion of GNV.
You cant "bring in" any fire arm even if you have a "NPB weapons license", unless you are a renowned shot. Even if your are a TR case and meet all the other criteria, you will have to get valid arms license before you can keep what you bring in. (Again, I am no expert and the more qualified members here will be able to better advice you on this.)
No one is saying that buying ANY make of air rifle in ANY caliber is not possible in India. As long as you are willing to pay you will pretty much be able to buy what ever air gun you fancy.
I have no wisdom to offer, only experience. I wouldnt touch any of the current walther pcps even with a long stick. (Not referring to their 10m competition air rifles)
There is only one loop hole in your multiple barrel theory, it doesnt make any sense to do that. It will be more tedious than buying the air rifle in the calibre you want. So if you want a .22 or .25 or .30 or whatever, you would be better off trying to get that in the first place. Besides, barrel swaps are not plug and play, you'd have to change quite a bit, breach included to make the setup up work. So this idea is pretty much a fail unless you decide to go in for a model that is made specifically keeping barrel swaps as an integral part of the design, like the FX Impact (or an Airforce Condor jugaad). Even then, getting the barrels separately isnt going to be easy or cost effective.
Anyways, we are going off topic. I saw something that wasnt accurate and pointed it out.
Lock, Stock and Barrel.
