Re: AARMR Hurricane Model 15. First Impressions. Picture Heavy
Greetings to all the Hawk-eyed shooters here!
Has anyone disassembled the gun yet?!
How is it behaving post tuning?
What about that vibration - could somebody pls verify if the spring is canted due to excess preload or something?
Though the accuracy is good, is the barrel choked?
Someone reported excessive trigger back pull - are others facing this problem as well?
Am in touch with the technical guy there, if any of you find problems, I can report it to them & see what can be done in the service of the shooter-clan..!

The barrel is not choked, it appears to me.
There is very little preload.
Very easy it disassemle and assemble.
Rear spring guide sucks.
Piston Washer is of very poor quality. But Precihole washer fits perfectly.

"Spring guns probably don’t need to be choked. When they fire the intense blast of air they generate, it irons the pellet’s skirt out into the bore. As long as the barrel remains uniform throughout its length (and not all barrels do), the pellet is fit to the bore by this action. But a pneumatic or a gas gun releases its compressed air or gas more gradually and doesn’t distort the pellet. So, a choked barrel is the way to make all pellets uniform before they leave the muzzle of these airguns" Spring gun barrels may have chokes that are unintentional. by Tom Gaylord, a.k.a. B.B. will take it( the theory and unintentional part) with a bit of salt.jatindra Singh Deo wrote:"Spring guns probably don’t need to be choked. Pics of dissembly-reassembly pls?!GNV wrote:The barrel is not choked, it appears to me.

Would be great if you could share pics of rear spring guide problem as well. Would shoot it to the AARMR techie..
Any ideas regarding what is causing those vibrations - canted spring, Frankenstein's powerplant, or a light pellet compared to the generated power?
How is it performing post tuning - vibrations, recoil, forward lunge, ME, accuracy etc?
What modifications did you do along with the washer.. did you polish that trigger assembly as suggested earlier?
What about the trigger back pull?

Finished lubricating the gun properly and reassembling it.
complete report with pics would be posted on 23rd OCT as I am fully occupied with some work tomorrow.
Rear spring guide pics will explain the problem.
I think the vibrations are due to lack of lubrication and the rear spring guide. Spring is not bent. In fact preload is very little. While decompressing and compressing the spring my feeling is that it is weaker than PH spring and NP.
Not yet tested the performance after lubrication.
All I done is replacing the piston washer with PH washer and polishing the lower and middle sear's contact area smooth.
I don't understand what you mean by trigger back pull.
yet to adjust the trigger.
The cocking cycle is very smooth now.
Be back with full report on 23rd OCT .
Bye till then.

Pls send the guide pics, will send them to the AARMR guys. Perhaps you can claim that 'parts' supply warranty then..Rear spring guide pics will explain the problem.

For a gun with this powerplant dimensions, I would choose a heavier, sturdier spring guide to propel heavier pellets better & exploit its full power...
If the spring is fine then there maybe something wrong with the guide or cylinder... Even light pellets can give vibrations with a large powerplant.. Does it vibrate equally with heavy & light pellets alike?
I was wondering, does the piston touch the spring tube for the whole time or is it 'separated' by bearings..?! Good manufacturers usually have those bearings to minimize contact friction...
I spoke to their techie, he said they picked a lighter spring to avoid breaking the 20J limit.. We can always replace it with its Frankensteinian bloodline...
Awaiting results with the modifications. If you find time, pls test it with a stronger spring & spring guide too.. Lets see how it fares with that extra muscle...All I done is replacing the piston washer with PH washer and polishing the lower and middle sear's contact area smooth.

I suppose that someone with large fingers had faced the trigger pull back problem. I discussed it with the AARMR guy, he said they had designed the trigger for smaller palms & would be coming out with modifications for larger fingers in future...

Can you get back with them on any plans for a regular stock ,I am sure many over here will be really interested in such a version including me !main13 wrote:Happy Dushehra GNV Garu & everyone else too!GNV wrote: complete report with pics would be posted on 23rd OCT as I am fully occupied with some work tomorrow.

I have been pestering them about it from day one..! But for now at least, their attention is fixed on optimizing the gun's capabilities.. There are many areas where it needs to improve to become a true 'Indian Magnum'...jatindra Singh Deo wrote: Can you get back with them on any plans for a regular stock ,I am sure many over here will be really interested in such a version including me !
Once they get that they've promised me to come out with more variants. I would rather recommend finding a good mistri to do it for you instead in case you have it already. You may also consider buying a tuning-kit & see the difference for yourself...

Re: AARMR Hurricane Model 15. First Impressions. Picture Heavy
Now I am posting how to strip the HURRICANE and reassemble it.
First remove the action from the stock by unscrewing the three bolts using the correct Hex Keys.Lift the cocking arm out of its slot.
Then unscrew the barrel hinge screw keeper screw using the correct sized hex key. Then break the barrel and remove the barrel hinge bolt.
Remove the barrel .
Added in 10 minutes 47 seconds: Using a correct size drift pin gently tap out the rear most cross pin.
Fix the action in a spring compressor and using a suitable filler in the end of the receiver tube slightly tighten the compressor screw and tap out the second cross pin.
Slowly unscrew the compressor screw and decompress the spring.
Added in 9 minutes 46 seconds:
completely decompress the spring. I feel that this spring is weaker than the PH spring. Still it is delivering more power than a PH rifle right out of the box.
Remove the action from the spring compressor. Draw the End plug/ Part of the Trigger Assembly out and the spring guide also comes out with it.
Added in 8 minutes 56 seconds:
Draw the spring out.
Now press the trigger back and draw the piston out.

That's very detailed GNV. Could you post some closeups. Pics 8 & 9 gives an impression of a thin diameter of spring.

If you want to completely strip the gun to its component parts then let us proceed.
Let us first disassemble the lower trigger assembly. Unscrew all three trigger adjusting screws using hex keys and remove them.
