Some days ago a AR manufacturer from Kolkata also told me the same thing, these docs are required only if you are a dealer or reseller. A consumer dont need that. If they want they can send it via normal courier, like Kovibazaar does.

A-Crossbow: I have gone & spoken to the Asst Sales Commissioner & his whole deptt of sarkari kaamchors. Also spoke to the AARMR babe, she also said the courier walas are adamant on the form. Form 39 is a VAT form of UP, not state entry tax... It is not applicable if you're shipping within UP...

Did you recently buy from Kovibazar from outside UP to a city in UP? Pls share the courier company details if possible?!

Main,
Do Indian Postal Service also need these forms? Otherwise you can get the gun as a postal parcel.

GNV Garu No idea about postal service! But I really doubt about its reliability in UP.. In last few years, not one post has arrived at my doorstep! Wouldn't be very surprised if the postman decides to go bird hunting himself!
Worst case scenario would mean me getting it from their Aligarh dealer perhaps...

Did you get a chance to check out those balance shifting & silicone lube tweaks that guy suggested? Pls could you also comment about the quality of its spring, washers etc.. Also am still awaiting that scope mount pic so I can send it to him & see if a hack can be found.. What was the diameter of that UTG scope you were using?

I am from Assam, and many internet vendors (like from ebay) does not want to sell their goods to assam because of high entry tax. I recently bought from Kovibazaar and they send me the product without any problem. I have receipt the AR and using it, awesome :).
I think If Kovibazaar(from udupi, Kranataka) can send an AR to Assam, AARMR can also send the AR to UP. Kovibazaar used Indiapost surface mail. Try contacting Kovibazaar and see what they reply to you, ask them whether they can send you the AR or not. If Kovibazaar can send you the AR then I don't know why AARMR guy is asking all these docs from you. I got all this knowledge from that Kolkata AR manufacturer, he told me if they want they can send the shipment via normal courier, like internet shoping.

I suppose Kovibazar might be having a warehouse in Assam & shipping it to them first.. That would save them a Lot of cash..!

Also I believe the AARMR guys being Punjabis live up to their Punjabi-reputation! :D
They tell me all the couriers there ask for form39 in UP... They had also never heard of RMS service of Indian Railways until I told them about it! They will revert to me tomorrow... Lets see if I get my piece before Vijayadashmi or not..! :skeet:

Today I visited their retail shop(AARMR). The owner informed me that they are constantly doing research for its improvement. As per his version they have imported machinery to make this model. It has a sturdy feel while one handle this gun-a true Punjabi taste at this rate .

Dear Main,
After I gave up air gun shooting in mid 90s I had taken up RC Modelling Air Craft building and flying as my primary hobby and imported a lot of Model Kits and equipment from TOWER HOBBIES, USA for nearly 12 years using USPS ground shipping only because my packages were always quiet large and Air Shipping would be expensive. It used to take about 3 months to arrive. But I never lost a single package. They all come through Chennai FPO and very lucky that I was never asked to pay any customs duty either. I stopped buying from TOWER HOBBIES when they stopped shipping using USPS surface mail and switched to HOBBY KING which also stopped shipping by surface mail recently and since then I am buying from Local Online Shops like RCBAZAAR. The thing is Regd.Postal Parcels are 100% safe.

I told you that the problem with the scope rail is not a manufacturers fault. The UTG dovetail to Weaver/Picatinny Ring adapters I have are designed to to fit on raised scope rails with flat top surface and not a curved surface. See the photos below.

They don't fit properly on curved surfaces.

Like this TTI made scope rail

Now I think you understand.

Today evening on my way home from my farm I visited my borewell mechanic who is also a lathe machinist and give him the design of the filler plug I need to decompress my Hurricane and he assured me to make it and give it to me by tomorrow evening.

When I reached home I found the package I have been waiting so eagerly on my table. The scope mounts I ordered from dealextreme.com have finally arrived.

They came through Chennai FPO and a customs duty of Rs.177/- was levied.

Added in 29 minutes 4 seconds:
While this dovetail to weaver adapter fits properly on both my ORION and HURRICANE I didn't like it because the dovetail fitting part is only 3" long and was secured with only two allen bolts. I didn't feel it strong enough for my UTG 3-12X40 AO scope which weighs about 850 gms.

Even though the scope rail is smaller on the Hurricane in length than the one piece mount I decided to use it.

It was designed for use with scope rails with curved surfaces and fits securely on both ORION and HURRICANE.

After fixing the scope I was able two shoot a couple of DYNA SHOT RH pellets before light faded and amazed to find them hit the target at about 20 yrds where the cross-hairs pointed bang on target without any adjustments.

I intend to take the the gun to my farm with me tomorrow and shoot 200-300 pellets plinking at various ranges. Then return home and strip it and properly lubricate it and reassemble it tomorrow night. And then do proper accuracy tests trying different pellets the next day.

Added in 18 minutes 36 seconds:
As Brihaji said mounting my heavy scope somewhat improved the balance.

About Silicone Lubricants. Never ever use silicone oils where metal comes in contact with metal. It destroys the metal surfaces. For the temperatures that develop and the friction in an AR only suitable lube is Molypaste I think. And only a fool would advocate to induce dieseling in an AR. It is a proven fact that dieseling destroys an AG permanently and is disastrous for accuracy.

My scope tube dia is 1 inch.

Thanks for the pics GNV Garu! Will send it to the AARMR guy & see what can be done..

It seems that the postal office guys are refusing to ship their packages as it is too big... Hence regd parcels are out of question for now at least!
However I have some experience sending & receiving RMS packages via railways, so I have asked them to send it via that route. Lets see if that can be done...

As far as importing guns is concerned, sometime perhaps I would buy a RWS 350 Magnum.. I would prefer to have my chaddi-buddies carry them for me... Hope that isn't too hard to do via the aerial baggage route??!

Or if I find a good enuff gun manufacturer here in India, perhaps I could arrange its design from somewhere & build its gene-boosted Indian half-brother with muzzle weights, detachable fibre optic sights & full size Picatinny rail to mount accessories. Or perhaps modify its design to be cocked via bolt-action & fed by a 20-shot mag.. I love playing with my guns! :)

For now my dream is to drill through that front sight & insert a vertical red tritium vial & another greenone in rear sight to align together making aDIY night sight!

Any ideas, suggestions, tips for the above would be greatly appreciated... Perhaps you & other wise geeks here could guide me about the 3D-dimensions of the rear & front sights & suggested drilling dimensions... :)
Btw are tritium vials available in India anywhere..??!

My importing from Tower Hobbies is Radio Controlled Model Airplane Kits and Equipment concerned not airguns. All the airguns I got from USA were gifts from my elder sister who lives in USA and were brought whenever she visited us. Now a days getting an air rifle even a 0.177" if you have a recognized club membership guns from abroad via personal baggage is much head ache for the person bringing them. They have to undergo extra trouble and need to put in extra effort. I couldn't ask anybody, even my son living in USA, to undertake such a task. Best thing would be to buy from Relish Sports and such
IMHO.

I received my hurricane yesterday and I am loving it. Ordered it on 13th and got it on 15th evening from kovibazar. I have also ordered a case, hunter pelletes and a basic scope. This is my first AG of my life. After going through many YouTube videos and forums. I learnt things like handliling recoil , artillery hold, selection of pellets etc etc.. Experts, Please review my second round of target practice.
I shot this from 10 mts .

I did not find pistol grip any issue. I was comfortable . At start, I didn't like its weight, it was giving trouble while taking aim. But after few shots I got used to it. Now i have to lift some dummbles to handle this gun. Only thing I didn't like is the sound. it makes loud sound . you definitely get noticed from a long distance .

Why don't you order from some online shop? Cuts the difficulty. If GNV got one by courier then it's possible. Some one is giving excuses to you.

About your idea on a perfect 350 clone, wish you all the best, but remember if it were that easy, Indians would not be thirsty for good AR's. Importing a.22 is kissing your money good bye. As GNV mentioned, even with valid papers, it's a harrowing experience to bring in a .177. Your best bet is relish sports. They do the clearance and they are reliable. BTW, they do only .177 and their mark up is not exorbitant.

Drilling through the sites to place radium picks can only be done if you have precision machinery. My RWS had them but they do not influence my aim when I use open sites..... that's a personal trait.

Looks like AARMR is turning out to be a nice rifle after all. Once we have the longer range tests from GNV, I think with a good tune you have a good AR.
